Hey,

so I started learning about how to customise my game not long ago and find great fun in messing around with it, but now I've sort of got to the point where I don't even know where to start. I've seen people made their own headmorphs to replace default Shepard with, like ELE08's beautiful replacer, and I'd like to ask for pointers on how to do something similar. Let's say I make custom Shepard in my game and want to replace default Shep's headmorph with hers/his or temporarily put it on an existing NPC, where do I start? Would anybody be so kind to give me some advice or source of information on how to export custom Shepard's head from the game? I've tried to look but no luck so far. (I already have some knowledge of ME3 Explorer, Gibbed, 3ds Max, and UDK, so I don't think I'll need a lot. Uh, I hope.)

Thanks for reading me!

Congrats on learning to mod! I remember when i started! phew what a head spin.  I cannot remember fully what I did to get the other characters heads in my game, but what i can tell you, what might help, is downloading one of my mods to play as another character, there you can see in the mesh mod what files i changed when u import it to your game. You do not have to load the mod, but just bring it into mod maker, i know some meshes were called SFX, you need to replace for each classification, like soldier, or whatnot. That should give you a good idea. I would say also, that you need to keep the shep hair on the head, so make it small and fit inside the new head. I bet you can rip one of mine out of the game if you install, as a psk and then import into 3dmax. then you can see what i mean.  It is hard to properly explain, I wish I knew more to tell you! I wish you good luck!

Thank you! And, yeah, you're right. It's been quite a journey, but a rewarding one. My game must hate me, though. :D Not that I can make mods of my own yet besides the simplest texturing work, but I'm quite happy with what I've learnt so far. I've seen your mod thread here, too. Amazing work!

Replacing meshes is simple enough in most cases. I've already changed outfits by exporting them, tweaking them in 3ds Max, converting into UPK and then importing them into a specific PCC. Toying with these things also helped me find out some characters have one full head mesh, hair and all, like Kaidan, and some have their hair separate from their head mesh, like Traynor. Replacing meshes hopefully shouldn't be hard, but how to even get custom Shepard's head out of the game seems tricky since the game doesn't seem to store any sort of physical head mesh for them. (Now I wonder whether what I'm asking is even possible with the modding tools we currently have.) Alternatively, I could poke through what BW did to get the clone in the Citadel DLC working, but I assume that'd always result in having twins.

You're right, though. I guess reverse engineering existing mods sounds like the best course of action now. I'll give it a shot. I didn't know about the SFX thing. That's good to know. Thank you!

Yes, sheps head is stored in those sfx files, for soldier, adept, ect. It really doesnt come out and say it, but i know there were those i had to change I can do it if you do not want to, just let me know i can prob get you a list. :D and thank you!

Don't worry about it. Thank you for the offer, though! If there's anything I've learnt, it is that suffering is good for me. Makes what I learn easier to remember.  :D

I've done some extra digging yet again and found this: http://nhaneh.tumblr...script-edition

With your advice and this, I may even be able to put it together eventually after all!
