So in multiplayer, whenever i do a quick match i end up going to a lobby where no one joins. Why does it seem like i'm the only player here? I just downloaded DragonAge: inquisition and the Dragonslayer expansion today. Do i need something else so that my DA aligns with other people's?

It just happens sometimes, how busy a lobby is can depend don many things including where you live. Also BioWare has an exceedingly annoying aspect to the game in which it will make you host of an empty lobby if you can't find a quick lobby to join.
Often your best choice is to actually start up a game solo, play cautiously and in most cases people will join your game sooner or later.

They have region locking thus some areas of our fair world have much smaller player bases, asia being one of them unfortunately. If you find games with other players see if you can 'friend' them so it's easier to play in the future.

Where in Asia?
The region locking is rather strict... If you have no one in your country play Dragon Age then you might be out of luck.
I know there is a guy who posts here from South East Asia who has the same problem.

If you add friends through Origin, you can by pass the region lock by joining their session directly.
