No banter at all, like 3 to 4 hours so far. It's really annoying.

I've heard lots of this particular banter bug before, but I think I've never experienced it in my other playthrough. But now, it seems DAI kindly decide to make sure I won't miss anything, like this bug, let me experience all things it can provide... I tried cheatengine banter trigger but it's not working so far. I guess wp is completely broken. I'm just so sad and annoyed.

Yeah, there's something wonky about that region

Apparently all of the Western Approach is marked as a hostile area so since the banter timer pauses in those areas (so you don't get banter during combat) you don't get banter a lot if at all even with CE Banter Trigger. That's what I read anyhow.

Is it just the banter that's messed up? I never noticed tbh...

Oh, is it?..

I guess you haven't  tried the Hissing Wastes yet...

(it's one of my favorite zones, to be honest. Probably 'Asunder' is to blame for that).

Hissing Wastes is supremely controversial. People seem to either love it wholesale or reference it in damnation.

Anyway, yeah, Asunder makes me gleeful whenever I'm in the Approach, too.

Banter has never worked in the Western Approach. It can fire there occasionally, but it almost never does.

You're not actually missing anything (except for the area-specific remarks, I guess, though you can still get those in the Still Ruins if you really wanted). All the banter will fire normally in other areas.

The Western Approach is a problem child. I used to never get banter there but since... two patches ago, I think... I get banter firing at the normal rate.

Exactly. I don't hunt for banter. It just comes up at random.

The only banter bug I ever had was the endless repeat between Solas and The Iron Bull about the dead Chargers.

try the hissing wastes... it's a waste... utterly nothing to do there.

once you clear the main enemy camp everything is empty ruins... really boring.

I never had a problem with banter in the Hissing Wastes. Never get it in the Western Approach, though.

It's not a special creature type. Any quillback can (rarely) drop the spines.

I would travel ten Western Approaches just to avoid one Exalted Plains.

Actually, there are 3 spawn points for Alpha Quillbacks, which is a special creature, that have a high drop rate (not 100%, but a lot better than regular Quillbacks).

I can second this-- the Exalted Plains map is just incredibly depressing, though I believe that's part of the intention.  I wish it wasn't the only place with full Dalish interaction, etc., because I love that, but just really don't like going to Exalted Plains.

Big fan of the Hinterlands, honestly.  Place feels very alive.  Emerald Graves is great too.  Cheers.
