My problem is similaur to this one below..
http://social.biowar...06/index/794565
Though for me, the first disk cannot be read. The second reads fine, and then tells me to insert the first, which it still does not read. When I attempt to find it with "my computer" and whatnot, it goes blank and loads for a while, but nothing ever pops up. Like the drive is empty.
I downloaded daemon tools, but that can't find the disk either! So I can't use that method.
Obviously, having read the second disk, it doesn't appear to be a problem with the reader. What is the deal and how can I fix this?

Check the game manual to see if there is a disk replacement policy.
Failing that, fair-use laws entitle you to obtain a backup copy of that disk in order to install it. You've bought and paid for the game so this is perfectly legal. Know a friend with ME2 that you could borrow to make a copy?

In that case it sounds like a problem with your DVD drive or possibly even the HD you're trying to install the game on. Get a laser-cleaning disk, run chkdsk (scanning for errors/attempt recovery of bad sectors) then try to install it again.
Manufacturing defects happen but not that frequently.

I'm actually suspecting a bad bunch of discs. There are quite a number of reports of problems of this nature. Far too many to dismiss as problems with the DVD drives. Mine, for instance, will read any disc I've put into it except the ME2 Disc 2 install disc. I ended up having to install by using another DVD drive from my daughter's computer.

Yeah, disk2 for ME2 will load up to around 11.2% on the english.rar file, and then crashes with a "data error". I think that the file is corrupted, and its not my computer, because this is the second copy of ME2 I've tried, and as Eury said, my computer reads all other disks fine.

Methinks we should all be reimbursed a lump sum of $20,000 billion dollars in exchange for not letting the world know the extent of fail for them either cutting corners or using cheap methods for their media!

You think that's the problem? That it's Biowares fault? Cuz I really dunno...although 20 billion sound snice.
Just got my 3rd copy of ME2, lets hope this works, cuz third times the charm!
