Last word means nothing. If you're proven wrong..you're wrong.
Nobody proved her wrong because she just keeps spouting more qunari gibberish and tells you how the way you live sucks.

The only reason they made Tallis canon was because whats her name was famous/
I really think Tallis is the character that I like least in all the DA games. Her voice was irritating, she said dumb things, I hated being around her and seeing her, basically I'd forgotten about her until now...I never want to see her again.

Felicia Day.
Also similar to Sten and Arishok, Tallis is a title and could be the mantle for anyone. We could get a Blonde haired Blue eyed muscle man elf called Tallis to be as far from her as possible next time.
Is anyone else enjoying their tea and biscuits while giggling at all this Tallis hate? No? *sips tea*
I honestly think the entire MOTA story was kinda derpy. I especially liked how I could whisper dirty things into Lord Cyril's ears while my romanced Anders was creeping around the Chateau... yup.
I like to pretend that she was playing Hawke the entire time by acting all confident and easy going with her self-doubt outbursts just so Hawke would trust her more, since normal Qunari typically don't have much of a personality or whatever.
Oh and she's totally a spy too, (getit?
) so it's entirely possible she already had a manipulative game plan and stuff.
Just my two cents #justgirlythings
Each time Hawke confronts her out on her BS, she has the last word, even if it's a bigger pile of BS. She comes up with weak arguments and throws in some lame excuse like the latrine info. That was just annoying.
And for someone who wouldn't stop preaching about how super awesome the Qun is, she sure broke their rules on a whim.
To be fair this is more of a general writing problem rather than a Tallis specific one, there were multiple cases in DAI of characters making crap arguments and getting the last word with little to no opportunity for the inquisitor to counter. Though it perhaps stands out more with Tallis since hers take place over a short period instead of over the course of a game.
I do agree that the last decision to stop her from taking the list was badly done. They wanted Tallis to escape with it, fine, but they could have had Hawke attack or start to run after her and fail, would have been better then just standing there.
I still liked Tallis though and would be happy to see her again as long as she had character development (though thats a caveat I have for any reappearing character.)
Good Qunari is dead Qunari, and Tal-Vashoths need support to fight with Qunari
I plan to give this damn scroll to Tevinter as tome of Koslun
Now it would be more deaths because of this when the war started

I'll be honest. I didn't like Tallis. I don't hate her, because that's something I reserve for insipid characters, and no matter what her faults were, she wasn't that. But mostly, what I didn't like about her was that she was a missed opportunity. She was an opportunity to present a different side of the Qun, the Viddathari experience, if you will, but the writers tried too hard. It's difficult to root for a character who's too busy cheering herself on to hear what your character and others are saying. Had the prison break scene been reversed, where Tallis needed Hawke to save her rather than the other way around, it would have been a lot easier to like her. Had she been allowed to appear incompetent or not-in-control even once, it would have made her much more relatable.
I wouldn't mind Tallis returning as a companion so long as she has a good character arc with enough growth that will allow Tallis a chance to rub so off this hate off. I think she deserves another chance to shine maybe with a new pc, years has passed by and people have changed something that has happened with plenty of returning characters so as long as it makes story sense.
I don't believe I'm saying this, but I agree. After everything that went wrong in Mark of the Assassin, Tallis deserves this shot at character redemption.
It can happen! I actively loathed Leliana in Origins, but in Inquisition, her doubt, inner conflict, and recently-acquired cynicism made her a lot more believable, and a lot more likable. If this is her last appearance in the series (and I kinda hope that it is, because her story's done), she went out on a positive note, and I can bid her a surprisingly affectionate farewell.
But, if it's going to happen, it needs to be done right. She needs some vulnerability to offset her swagger, some humility to counteract her insufferable smugness. But mostly, she needs to be shown supporting other characters and helping them shine in the spotlight.
No. No thank you. I'd rather not see her again.
Wait, wait! Before you start throwing sharp implements at me, I'd like to explain why I hope she's in DA4.
I know plenty of people disliked something about her in MotA. Personally, I wasn't a fan of how Hawke acted around her: unable to debate about the Qun (especially as a mage), and unable to even try and take the scroll. That doesn't mean that her character and role can't be improved in DA4. Look at Merrill, Isabela and Cullen, they were greatly improved after being brought back. She doesn't necessarily need to be a companion, but a relevant NPC or representative of a faction.
Tevinter has two guaranteed characters to humanise the elite: Dorian and Maevaris. I hope we'll see a wide moral spectrum for the mages. There will be slaves, possibly even a slave rebellion. Perhaps we'll finally get a bit more light on those in the middle. Surely the Qunari side should have the same treatment? I'm sure we'll meet qunari from the Qun, but why not have an important viddathari too? We've only had a small slice of their PoV so far, between Tallis and Gat.
Tallis has great potential to be connected to the story if it's based in Tevinter, features a Tevinter/Qunari war, the Inquisition, and Solas.Tl;dr - I think she has a lot of story potential based on her personal history. I don't think she should be discarded simply because of flaws with MotA.
- She was a slave in Tevinter and later recruited into the Qun, therefore she can provide experienced opinions on both sides of the conflict. She may even have contacts on both sides, making her a useful contact.
- As an ex-slave, she could be involved in any kind of rebellion. Fanning the flames for the Qunari or simply spying. Hell, she could be a triple agent: working for the Qunari, Solas and the rebellion at the same time. That would be interesting.
- She could provide an insight into what elven viddathari think of Solas' plan, and a personal insight into the viddathari, rather than one from a Qun-born qunari. She would also find it easier to operate in Tevinter than a qunari.
- She has some kind of history with Leliana, providing a link to the Inquisition. Elven spies infiltrated before. Maybe she could reveal how much they're still plaguing the Inquisition, based on our choice to disband or not.
- She struggled to completely accept the Qun's philosophy in MotA, and in Trespasser, there's a note in the Darvaraad. So she could provide an interesting balance between a very pro-Qun character, and a Tal Vashoth or Fog Warrior. I'm hoping we have one of the latter in our party. We could see some fascinating dialogue or issues arise there.
I would finish with 'Thoughts?', but the ME:A forum has traumatised me.
"Maker Nooooooooo!"
Just....no.
Please , no .
I didn't hate Tallis in MOA.
But then I watched the youtube series she made , can't remember what it was...Redemption?
I mean she surely work a lot on it , as far as costume goes...but the writing , OMG , it was just bad fanfiction.
She is or was a fan of dragon age and a minor celebrity , so yeah she got her shot at DA , and it was meh.Not professional.
So I'm against it just like I'm against Bioware favoring any of their fan and building a character around him or her.
I mean sure take inspirations from people around you , by all means , but unless you're working on some kind of parody which isn't taking itself seriously don't make IRL people walk Thedas.
Just like I'm against Cole and all his cryptic message referencing TV shows or what have you.I mean once in a while ok , but Cole was a bit too much for me.
