All I know is that feminists wouldn't care if the Desire demons were semi naked males.
Despite the gender association the label of feminist usually has, it is not a gender-specific label so the assumption that feminists would not care if desire demons were semi-naked males is incredible flawed in that it ignores that a feminist can be of different sexuality, gender and opinion than another feminist.

My line of thinking is that they would spawn/appear in certain areas only and not being the run of the mill mooks.
Their appearance and gender depends largely on the choices of your response through out the dialogue between player and party member in that isolated area [Diplomatic / Snark / Angry / Tearful / Flirty / whateve's].
If your character response is largely:
Diplomatic, then it will try to take the form of a wise person coming your way in peace
If Sarcastic, then a charming swashbuckler pops up and promise you a dragon's hoard.
If Anger, then it will come forward as meek servant offering you assistance / supa power item that no 'ordinary mortal' can handle. Only for sues and special snowflakes and the like.
If you are a flirt, then it'll take up that barely-clothed appearence.
What I envision is this, the demon has been 'listening' and paying attention to you as the leader of the group, trying to figure you out and how to deal with you accordingly the moment you set foot in it's domain.
The objective of the Demon is:
1. Trying to trick you into doing something (like kitty in Honnleath, DAO)
2. Trying to get the group to turn against each other (something like Izzie's big boat thing
3. If you have a solid team and didn't buy into it's BS then at the very least you are within the creature's comfortable striking distance.
Bottom line is that desire can be of many things: wealth, power, peace, security and not always 'snu-snu'
Just a wish (i know it's not going to get implemented

Edit: and it just ocurred to me, since they don't actually have gender, genitalia wouldn't have to match their body type. Just saying.

You aren't going to see full frontal nudity in a BioWare game. I'm not saying this because I'm opposed to nudity (or because I'm in favor of it). I'm quite comfortable with it, in fact, but I don't see it as being particularly relevant. It's just that the United States and Asia represent a huge portion of their sales base, and those two markets tend to be conservative about nudity. Regardless of what Americans and Asians are actually watching in the privacy of their homes. It may not make a lot of sense, but if BioWare wants to sell games, they have to work with what they have.
Of course, there's the alternate interpretation that BioWare simply isn't interested in showing off pixel representation of people's bits, but that would be mad, wouldn't it?

Like the idea of having desire demons again come DA4.
My line of thinking is that they would spawn/appear in certain areas only and not being the run of the mill mooks.

1. Trying to trick you into doing something (like kitty in Honnleath, DAO)
2. Trying to get the group to turn against each other (something like Izzie's big boat thing) depending on how chummy you are with your buds, they may/may not turn on you.
3. If you have a solid team and didn't buy into it's BS then at the very least you are within the creature's comfortable striking distance.
Bottom line is that desire can be of many things: wealth, power, peace, security and not always 'snu-snu'
Just a wish (i know it's not going to get implemented) but one can dream
Hey snu-snu with a desire demon (with a "package") is my ONLY desire! Especially my mage is a female!
