Don't you remember the battle of Ostagar in DAO?
No use of artillery, charging from a defensive position, archers can only fire one shot, Dogs are beyond useless against darkspawn, mages did absolutely nothing, no cavalry or any real tactics other than "dur charge".

I think Ostagar might have gone a lot better if Cailan had actually bothered to attend Loghain's strategy meetings to discuss the tactics they'd be using in the battle, instead of skiving off to go drinking with the soldiers.
When your King needs to be reminded of the details of the battleplan right before the battle is supposed to take place, is it any wonder he ended up going full Leeroy Jenkins?

People of thedas don't like investing in Cunning.
Why not the Black Divine then? Isn't it Tevinter he wanted to bring back to the glory days and return to the worship of the Old Gods?
Throwing Tevinter into chaos and letting the Qun swarm in wouldn't exactly work toward that goal.
