Our ship should be able to return to the Milky Way at any time

If is a one way trip, then can you release a trailer about how we are stuck there or something?
I know the game is 12-ish months away from hitting the markets, but I am certain a 30 second teaser that answers a question or two would not hurt.

I'm content to wait and see how that happens.

nocando,Sir. Highway is still under construction. Something called "Earth" is in the way. Don't worry, it's being taken cared of!

What kind of explosion is that?

BioWare, if our ship can travel to Andromeda, well, what is keeping it from returning at any moment? If we are renegades, what is stopping us from saying, "forget this galaxy. I am going somewhere else."?

Even if we can go back to the Milky Way, we won't be able to because of story reasons. Same reason why Shepard couldn't leave Cerberus during ME2, or why the Warden in DAO couldn't leave Ferelden.
We'll most likely get some information on N7 Day.
What kind of explosion is that?
It's not an explosion. It's a disintegration.

I'm guessing it wasn't our personal ship that made the trip to Andromeda.
What kind of explosion is that?
It's the demolition of Earth from the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (film 2005). The dots you can see are the ships responsible.

You know the distance between our galaxy and Andromeda is about 2.5 million light years right? I doubt that's a trip you can make "at any moment".

In any case, I'm pretty sure it will be a one-way trip to Andromeda - allowing us to travel back will just raise too many questions.

New meme idea...
"Tempest"
(Picture of Tempest)
Has the ability to travel to another galaxy; magically loses this ability when it reaches another galaxy.

I like for my main character to say she/he misses the Milky Way and Earth throughout the game. As the game moves forward everyone else starts missing the Milky Way and their homeworld. About 3/4 in the game, they decide to build a ship to take them back to the Milky Way. The ship they build will have ludicrous speed to get back quickly. The ending of the game will show the ship leaving for the Milky Way. haha

How long do you figure it'll take them to traverse a 2.5 million light years distance?
It's 2.5 million years of travelling at the speed of effing light.
Even at greater speeds you're looking at a journey that might take thousands or even tens of thousands of years.
Unless you're expecting a mass relay to take us there. But that would mean Reapers in Andromeda.

We don't know how the colonists get to Andromeda yet, but an ark is a safe bet. We've now seen the word ark as part of both the Arkcon logo and on the screen when the N7 guy is flipping through potential planet destinations in the trailer.
If the colonists get there on an ark that doesn't create a wormhole or find a relay connecting to Andromeda, the journey will take them hundreds of years and they likely spend it in cryosleep. It would be a one way journey.

Well that would even make it worse, of course. If we take relativity into account then even more time will have passed in the Milky Way after a return trip to Andromeda, even if it wasn't as much time (only a fraction of that) for those who went on the trip. This could take crazy forms after such long periods of travel at such speeds.

Time, space, and technology.

I've got the idea! You can be a renegade, and your ship can return to the MW, but when you get there, you find out that Shepard chose refuse and the reapers have already left the MW. Everything you know and loved is dead or harvested. Pyjaks are beginning to fabricate stone weapons. You are surrounded by primitives.

We don't even know if the travel time is instant or generational - it could very well be that the people going to Andromeda aren't the original settlers and our PC was born and raised mid-journey. In which case, return to the Milky Way is absolutely out of the question.

It is better to be a one-way trip to the Andromeda. We can instantly ignore nearly everything from the Trilogy.
Iit is literally pointless to return to the Milky Way because we found already a twice as big and richer Galaxy.

I thought the purpose of moving the next game to Andromeda was because BioWare wrote themselves into a corner and didn't want to canonize any of the endings.

Im still reeling over the fact that were going to another galaxy anyway. Im sure the creative minds of the ME dev team will answer all my questions in the future anyway.
