I thought the purpose of moving the next game to Andromeda was because BioWare wrote themselves into a corner and didn't want to canonize any of the endings.

Nah, it was because they wanted to start a new set of games in the Mass Effect series that weren't a direct continuation of the Shepard Trilogy.  I mean, it makes no sense releasing a fourth game in a trilogy, does it?  Unless it's Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy, I suppose.

A fourth game in the Milky Way couldn't not be a fourth game with Shepard? That makes no sense.

No, it couldn't.  The quote-unquote fans wouldn't allow it.  There'd be just as much complaint as there is now, except it wouldn't be about the setting.

Shepard is dead for most people. Bringing him back to life would cause an uproar. Having a new PC in the same galaxy would not. There are more heroes than Shepard in the entire galaxy.

Anything Bioware does nowadays causes uproar.  Even when they make a cup of coffee, they get a load of emails from fans saying that it's a kick in the teeth to all the tea-drinkers among their fanbase.

No joke, a few spazzes on here got bent outta shape when they saw a BioWare employee using a coffee cup with the words "act with integrity" on it.

If it I were a dev I'd be drinking from a cup that says, "buy our DLC." And laughing at the carnage.

Bioware should pull Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. Just like they did with Hyrule, give us just enough to make us feel nostalgic for the old setting, then set up an invisible wall so we can't reach it. Our tears will be delicious.
