Faction balance issue: The Qunari are much stronger than the other factions. Either award extra XP/gold, or nerf.

I just remember not wanting to draw certain factions back when and realizing that wiping was a posibilty. In Threatening or Perilous. It sucked sure but the xp still went into the promotion pool.


If you thought that was terrible design back then...shouldn't it be terrible design now?

And isn't that the whole point of difficulty levels? Want something harder than Routine? Go to Threatening. Want something harder than Threatening? Go to Perilous. Want something harder than Perilous? Go to Nightmare. Want something harder than Nightmare? Go to Heartbreaker. Want something harder than Heartbreaker? You're out of luck apparently.

I mean, we're not talking about a horribly balanced group complaining about a specific faction because they're all playing the same class or something (and thus might be worse against certain factions). We're talking about a reasonable group composition with players skilled enough to handle that difficulty level...until the Qunari were introduced. And it's not a matter of the Qunari just being different/new...it's about the Qunari literally just being stronger. More abilities, more damage, more armor, more HP, etc.

I just started playing the other day, and I can attest to them being very difficult. At first I wasn't even aware that there were differing factions, only that Ben Hassereth assassins popped out if nowhere and repeatedly kept one shoting me.

  Didn't get into the game much this weekend. Fired up the ol Norge several times but then something else came up.

 

 I did play enough to meet the "ahem" challange requirement on Friday though.Did a lot of Perilous runs for leveling and got into some Nightmare as well. Drew the Spawn & Q alot it seemed with the ocassional Reds & Venn tossed in.I'll grant you the Q are tough but I'm noticing a trend when I Pug now of players instinctively jumping on the hardest of the eneny in the zone quickly and together.Surely one or two might need a pick up going through that zone, but players are adapting to the threat the way I'm seeing it.Having 1 or 2 stronger promoted players in the match dosen't hurt either. They can crit more often and absorb more punishment either way you slice it.

 Again I don't really see the need for a nerf. It's a 1 outta 5 draw. Painful but doable.That being said, I will always champion more XP gain and Gold. I like both. :D

I'd support more Gold/XP earned from this faction...but definitely not a nerf! (except maybe the obscure random surprise your dead out of nowhere)

That being said, there's a much easier fix for this...the golden secret equation is...

Play + Promote = Power gains - Puppy tears! Next

Echoing many similar sentiments, Qunari is just not worth the extra time. Double the gold or maybe even the xp to get people exciting about rising to the challenge instead of ducking out of lobbies when they roll Q on FC be it on nightmare or even perlious. Also select faction is becoming an increasingly relevant idea/solution.

When when all 4 ppl in your lobby is mages ofc your gonna wipe. A warrior makes qunari easy mode cus guess what? No spear blocking! Dont enter a game without good lobby set up, and if nobody takes a warrior and they are ready? Then you switch to a warrior. Problem solved

That's what the random option is for. Options are a good thing. Ideally, we'd be able to toggle off the factions/dragons we don't want to encounter, which would solve the complaint of people getting the same faction again and again, but I guess the interface just isn't right for that.

Map selection is worse than faction section at this point due to their policies on how to obtain the hakkons.  Want to actually play nightmare on any map other than the awful awful fc map?  Good freaking luck.

Depends on the variables. Stats/gear/kit/level.

 

Gotta admit, they're not as bad as I thought they were after getting used to them, but they're still more work than other factions. My main complaint now is how often I roll them in one sitting. Some variety would be nice.

The problem is about the effort/reward ratio.

Qunari takes twice the time to clear than for Demons, Venatori and Red Templars for the same amount of XP and Gold.

People are either asking for a nerf so the clear time is about the same as the other faction or a buff on XP/Gold so the effort/reward ratio is the same no matter the faction.

Personally, I'd take the buff on XP/Gold. I don't mind the challenge, I do hate the pathetic reward we get for it. Especially on Ferelden Castle...

Hmm let's see... People with that attitude in this community:

  • Have gotten the Demon Commander nerfed in the first couple months of DAMP
  • Are too impatient and dimwitted to run Heartbreaker
  • Ruined the competitive aspect by XP glitching
  • Are generally boring and annoying to play with
  • Stroke e-peen

Why should 1 out of 5 factions require that (on the same difficulty) while the other 4 don't?

Note that the answer of "Just buff the gold/XP" doesn't address the issue of NM Dragons where people still often quit and restart on Qunari.

If spear blocking was the only/main issue then we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Or, in less organized/geared/leveled/promoted/skilled/etc groups, people will wipe on Qunari while having zero issues with Demons/Venatori/Red Templars. And it's not a "YOLO" problem either -- it's the HP pools, extra abilities, more resistances/immunities, armor, damage, etc. They're just literally better than the other factions.

Soo this seems like the q for you noobs is rt back when perilous was still perilous and armor was still buggy. Well that sucks deal with it. Stop complaining how hard they are the games been out for almost a year all you little bishes should have at least 100 in everything. if not well wtf you been doing the last year signing in the forum to complain?

This should be fixed now I believe.

 

and by fixed I mean I swapped out the Saarebas for a different creature on wave 4. This will unfortunately affect all maps, not just FC.

 

So they already got nerfed.

I think the red templars need a buff. Give the archers the arrow of confusion or whatever it is. That will spice things up.

 Man where have you been? Your never in the game anymore when I'm running. I think your trying to avoid having to flat out carry me while battling the Mighty Q in NM. Yep I'm sure thats it. Ruggie thinks I'm needy. LOL  I've taken them in Perilous by myself but never really tried in NM. I guess I should try it and see what happens. ;)

 

 Most times when the Q starts kicking my arse, its mostly due to me not paying attention and doing something stupid.
