Yes, it would appear he overlooked Druffy N Friends when he changed this. I have fought them thrice on Ferelden Castle, and haven't had any issues with the getting stuck yet.
Yeah, never had a problem with saarebas getting stuck either with quarry faction or druffy faction.
I honestly don't think the difference is a game-breaking gulf or anything, but the qunari certainly are demonstrably tougher than other factions. More and more people seem to be learning how to better cope with them, however, and I've even been having plenty of PUG victories against them. Certain kit/build combinations can have a brutal time against them (primarily certain mages due to immunities) but I still think they're a fun challenge.
I'd still prefer to see increased experience & gold awards commensurate to the challenge. Providing the option to select your faction would be the ultimate solution in my opinion though so folks who are not in the mood for the chance at drawing them could select something else manually as an alternative.

Yeah I know ruggie, I see you on sompin else lately. Its all good. Still, I miss some those runs. The Sarrebas - Templar run was a blast! Gozillion kill streak! LOL
