But then Sten's whole "OMG THE TASTE" makes no sense if they have sweets like cakes. Cookies don't taste that different.
Depends on the cake. As Wikipedia helpfully informs us, the oldest cakes were basically bread, but cooked differently.

The Qunari would not kill her for failing. Qunari waste nothing. She was so fervent in duty that she would've accepted any fate they would have given her.
Even so, I respect the hell out of the fact that she did not flee. That she spited Solas knowing any attempts to defeat him at that point were futile. Cool character, shame we won't see more of her.

Well, among other things, we know the Qunari have hot chocolate.

Also I'm pretty sure they are dead. I was messing around with Flycam a lot during that scene and one of the screens I took shows this (I didn't even notice the fist time):
You don't see it in the normal scene, but she looks dead to me 
You would think fluoridation would be a demand of the Qun.
I imagine the Qun frowns on putting rat poison into the drinking water supply because that is what Fluoride is.
