I have to say when you are in a romance with Sera her codex entery for Sera's Past and Now Things is SO great.

- Do I get her name? That's like family.

(A drawing of Sera and Inquisitor in so many flowers. "Sera Cadash" is written in every blank space.)

Those two lines broke my hart.  God I love Sera.

I liked the part about her drawing the inquisitor. Not like inane scribblings that she later acknowledges as someone's butt, but like an actual drawing. It's kinda nice.

My favourite part was her worrying over the Inquisitor. It gave me major feels.

Here are some pics of my favourite parts (Spoilered for size):

I just love that she tears out the drawing and keeps it with her. The feels! I am dying... Lol.

I assume no other romance has a journal of some kind.  They must all be so... flat  :(

(I know they aren't but Sera's journal just adds so much extra dimension to the character and the romance I don't know how all the others manage without one!)

   I guess it really does help that for me her accent is local - I hear people like that every day, but I guess not speaking all Sera-like, yeah?

Eh...you do know you can marry Sera, yes? And her journal gets even more funny then? Just...you know, thought I'd mention that :D

Everything about Sera I like.

She's just a misunderstood girl after ones heart. Just treat her the way you want to be treated and she'll be on you easy.

Just don't make her mad and have this happen to you. Lol.

Agreed. She is my favourite romance of all time.

Another great thing is that during the main game it sort of drags out over time.. Where as Cassandra's (the only other one I've done) sort of stops after the romance locks in. Mind you it has positives of its own.. It centres around courting Cassandra during all of those cutscenes (Varrics book, etc) and the romance quest has a lot more depth than Sera's. Although, Sera's is more about fun where as Cassandra's is cheesy romance to the Max.

I absolutely love her journals, both main game and DLC , I have to check them every time I finish a main quest. but don't romance her. closest I got was to unlocking the kiss scene thingy once and that's it.

If only she is more willingly to have discussion instead of "Not my opinion? Then you're stupid.".

She has growth in Trespasser  like you would not believe.

I too did not care for Sera my first run through Inquisition but man, by the second one she was my bestie. Not to mention that "Tempest" spec is metal as hell.

And the journals in Trespasser were...difficult. Favorite snips:

- Everyone looks old and tired and fat.
- Find who shrunk my Skyhold clothes (scratched out). ******!
- Don't say the Inquisitor's hand looks bad.
- It looks very bad.

That hit me right where I live.

I'm OOL, and back in the DQ, when that happens, we drink.

So here's me, saying I'm gonna drink up back at Herald's Rest.

So, I am doing a replay of Trespasser and noticed that after the first crossroads/eluvian run through, Sera's journal is updated with a sketch of the unfinished mural and the words, "Not my hurt to keep" or something like that.

Also, if you read all of Solas' banter with her, he kind of hints that she may be more than what she is/what she believes she is.  This coupled with her frequent bouts of Deja Vu lead me to wonder if she's an ancient elf who has forgotten herself as well.

The journal really does add a lot. She's easily my favorite companion next to Cass and Dorian.

I tend to think that Solas is just trying to bring out some latent thing that all elves possess- like a natural connection to the Fade that goes beyond magic. Whatever it is that lets them see the colors in the Crossroad is dormant in them in the more mundane world. I think Trespasser is the first time she actually moves past her fear/refusal to accept and starts to empathize.

Also, I love Sera so much. I'm itching to romance her, but I'm saving it for last because I have a feeling it might be The One that will make me want to never romance anyone else. Even as a friend, her stuff in Trespasser is fantastic. I wish they'd use journals and correspondence to this effect more often in these games- it seems like a really budget-friendly way to include more content and really shade in characters and their relationships.

It would be really, really awesome if  Sera ended up being Andruil, though.  After all, Andruil "forgot herself" in one story, so it could make a lot of sense.

Unless she comes back in the endgame to put an arrow between Solas' eyes, I'd rather she not be yet another ancient being among the Inquisitor's inner circle.
