It's the latter, you just have to know what button to push since there are 2 extremist groups exist here. Regardless of which side you choose, one will defend, the other will be against.

What are these two extremist groups?

My take on this is simple:

I've been playing male protagonists for decades.  The few females I could find in my preferred genre (RPGs) either came from BioWare or were scantily clad because game companies decided it was the only way to sell games with a female lead.  (I'm looking at you, Lara Croft, who could kick massive ass but only in a tank top and short-shorts.)  When I got started on DA and adored it I looked into ME.  Had my history with BioWare not led me to believe otherwise, I would never have guessed I could be the one thing that made the ME series top-notch for me: FemShep who does her thing without (except a very few appropriately dealt with exceptions) being talked down to, called sweetheart, or otherwise treated as a less capable high-ranking soldier than Sheploo.

I freely admit that a part of my interest in new games is driven by whether or not the protagonist is customizable, most particularly with regard to gender.  I've been a guy a thousand times, by now.  If I prefer a strong protagonist with whom I identify better then that's how I'll use my wallet to vote.  Why shouldn't BioWare capitalize on that with other women and get their wallets to vote, too?

Dragon Age appeals to women and gays, but a TPS like Mass Effect doesn't. So, no, they should focus dudes.

Oh, we play/love Mass Effect too, darling. Don't you go thinking you're exclusive and safely tucked away from us. ;)

Define "these people". Do you mean the uptight social justice puritans who go to big universities to get brainwashed by illiberal progressive retards before going on to spout out more illiberal progressive (and actually sexist) garbage?

If that's the case, I would actually disagree. "Feminism" has been on a steady decline since the sixties. In the United States, anyway. I don't know if you're from here or if it's different in another country. Ever since women earned the legal right to equal pay in 1963 (aka long before these pay gap weenies were ever born), they've had less and less legitimate points to campaign for. Abortion rights were given to women nationwide in 1973, and I would argue that that is the final legitimate point that feminists have had, historically. Since then, it really has been incessant whining over trivial non-issues that affect literally nobody.

I'm dead serious about the non-issues thing too. The day that The Sun (the British tabloid paper) gets into legal trouble over their Page 3 pictures, or the day that news articles are written about "sexist air conditioning" (true story, I'll even provide you sources), are the days that everybody should realize that these people are jokes. Miserable, unfunny jokes that need to leave the civilized world alone.

You kidding? Most of today's feminists are a bunch of spoiled girls who thinks the world must bent for them, nothing is enough, #KillAllMen was a thing, not mentioning the attention w-s. I'm sorry, but that's not feminism, more like feminazis.

Have you tried the new Tomb Raider games? She doesn't wear that attire anymore, but clothes more appropriate for the situation.

Oh and I'm looking forward to Aloy in Horizon Zero Dawn, who is definitely dressed and designed in a more realistic manner. Yet she is still lovely. Also, Senua from Hellblade. Not a sex object, but lovely and badass. Can't wait.

It's feminism. Feminism is an ideology, not a genetic trait or concretely defined feature that one can observe with their eyes. You don't really have the capability of telling them they aren't. If someone says they're a feminist, they're a feminist. Doesn't matter how radical or moderate they are. Andrea Dworkin and Valerie Solanas are just as feminist as Emma Watson.

I still have hope for Emma Watson. She's a feminist, but she's not an idiot. I hope she has the willpower to fight through the brainwashing.

Criticizing Lara's shorts always seemed a bit odd to me. Yes, they show off her legs, but besides that not being in and of itself an issue, most climbers wear shorts or tights and very little on top, often nothing if it’s a guy. This is an actual thing.

The thing that made it dumb in Tomb Raider was the weather, but her character was designed independent of the level’s weather, and the budget wasn't going to support the production of multiple fully detailed Lara models... until much later games, where there are multiple Lara models for different weather.

That's an inane discussion.

Using default look in the trailers makes it look like game has set protagonist instead of having CC and making your own protagonist. That is what this is about, not differences in playstyles of RPGs.

That again assumes facts. it assumes that people conclude that an RPG has no character creation. i have almost never heard someone say, " I was shocked when an RPG had character creation." That doesn't happen. This isn't something that is a problem.

I can't think of any official Bioware trailer where they didn't have default character in their trailers. I think that Bioware should make more female protagonist trailers because it just makes good business sense as developers have finally started to wake up to the fact that woman are a huge untapped market for games. duh. But the idea that a set protagonist for their trailers leads people to think an RPG has no CC systems is fantasy. Off all the reasons to encourage diversity this reason is the fanciful.

Where do you should find the information on do you play your own character or set protagonist then if not trailer?

I can think of one, ME:A's since it didn't include protagonist ^^

Exactly. This sums up today's feminism for me...
