Let's all be honest. Unless this super awesome weapon has the following it will be disappointment:

Base Damage: At least 10% higher than Hakkon

Heal on KIll: 15% or more

Critical Damage Bonus: 150% or more

Heal on Hit: 1% or more

Proc's: 2+, my choices would be Chance to cast Pull of the Abyss (still my favorite) + Guard on Hit

Upgrade Slots: 2+

And like Kmeeg keeps pointing out. We really need a level 25/26/27 variant staff with fire damage...preferably one with upgrade slots.

The Crecent's Shadow is nothing but a shadow of the real weapon The Crecent which only lives in the MP world.   It is weaken to a shadow of itself when you look at it at the client world.   That's the story while the developers are busy figuring out how to force upload new MP item to the client after you got the item.  It probably involves some kind of delay.

"You got a weapon gift wrapped in dragon scales.  The armorer is busy breaking it open, please come back later to retrieve it."

This one you are showing doesn't look like that weapon we were expecting. Yes I know it is a SP version which is different than MP as shown by the Hakkons. But I am sure I could have thought of many better items so, like me, I am sure many people here are choosing not to believe this until it is 100% confirmed, as in someone got it and has a screenshot in MP or Luke releases what it is himself. So don't take offense when people just ignore your findings. Just not confirmed in our eyes

The weapon doesn't exist in SP.

You have to understand how the game works internally. Aside from the traffic that connects you to the Multiplayer server and sends/receive very lightweight data regarding matchmaking, gold/chest looting and completing an operation for XP, all assets for the game must be stored in your computer at launch time and during run-time.

All equippable assets exist as compressed .ebx files, packaged into the .cas/.sb files in your Dragon Age: Inquisition installation directory. There are modding tools (which I've discovered yesterday) that allow you to decode these files into a human readable format. When decoded, you discover that these files are actually stored in nested directories, just like how you would browse your computer to reach a document. These are the files that the game refers to at run-time to get all the data it needs: the textures, the shaders, all data for each existing item, the levels, combat logic, and so on and so forth. This includes all data relevant to MP as well (nothing appears out of thin air).

Now, all equippable weapons in this game are spread out in only 4 relevant directories.

1. The base directory that contains 90% of all (equippable) weapons assets (including those for MP) is:

  • DA3/Equipment/Items/Weapons

2. The second directory that contains weapons relevant for JoH (and all MP variants of Hakkon weapons):

  • DA3_DLC1/Equipment/Items/Weapons

3. The third directory contains those for The Descent (Kingfisher and the Descent weapons, no MP variants):

  • DA3_dlc_red/Equipment/Items/Weapons

4. The fourth directory contains data relevant for Trespasser

  • DA3_DLC_BLUE/Equipment/Weapons

At run-time, the game will simply go in one of those directories, regardless of whether you're playing singleplayer or multiplayer, and will retrieve the data for a specific weapon. Again, it doesn't matter if it's singleplayer or multiplayer.

Now to explain why I had the item in singleplayer: Some guy created a mod that allows you to directly load a weapon asset into the game if you specify the path to the mod. And boom, you'll get it in your inventory. For instance, I loaded the multiplayer Hakkon weapons variants into my singleplayer game.

And finally, the reason I'm so confident that this *is* the weapon is because I had a backup copy of the game before the added content of Patch 10. Therefore I was able to directly COMPARE all of these four weapon lists to see which ones were added as part of Patch 10.

The ONLY undocumented equippable weapon asset that currently exists in "DA3/Equipment/Items/Weapons" (which contains 650+ weapons), that somehow no one has ever heard of is "The Crescent's Shadow". I've loaded about 40 of the new Patch 10 weapons via the singleplayer mod, including the MP variants that have been created for them, and they're all documented on the wikia except for this one.

And somehow it happens to fit the description for the new *super secret* weapon almost perfectly.

Spoiler

And exactly like Drasca said, We wont know until someone actually gets it. I understand that the stuff is different but for all we know it could be a secret SP weapon that no one has yet to run across from the new DLC. I will remain skeptical until someone gets it..and I know who will most likely get it first so hopefully soon

Not really. Search for "The Crescent's Shadow" on google and literally no one knows about it. There is no reason the SP guys would create a *super secret* weapon like that.

But even if it was a SP weapon, you'd essentially be telling me that this *super secret MP weapon* doesn't exist as an equippable weapon asset in the game files. You have the right to remain skeptical, though.

This wouldn't be the first game that had secrets nobody knew about if that was the case:

1: Batman: Arkham  Asylum  Took about 6 month for people to find the secret room with Arkham City's blueprints in it. Developers had to announce it

2: Did you know you could play as the Master Hand in Super Smash Bros Melee? Not many did, it is a glitch

3 Did you know there was a secret room in "A link to the Past"? It was made for Chris Houlihan who won a Nintendo competition to get his name in a game. It wasnt discovered until recently when emulators started happening and people delved into the code

I can keep going and name off more but my point is that hidden thing do pop up in video games that are hard/near impossible to find.

Thinking outside the box, has anyone else entertained the outlandish possibility of the secret weapon having already been revealed in the form of the Bolters & their super diesel machine guns! How sick would it be for that 1 weapon to be made available to ALL 3 classes?! Dragon…meet Scarface!

No, you're mistaken.

All equippable items are of EBX type 111 (EquipItemAsset). This is a requirement by the game.

If you use the DAI mod tool and filter through the 1944 items that possess this type you won't find a *secret weapon* in there. How hard is it to understand that? The denial is real.

Look, I can even equip the Qunari spear if I want.

I can even equip the Qunari dual longswords

WHDLLFF.jpg

Heck, I can even change my lower body to a crate

Just face it, your weapon isn't real. The real deal is The Crescen't Shadow, whether you like it or not.

I've tried to equip the bolters gun and it creates texture bugs. I think it's not intended for human use!

You seem a bit hurt that I don't accept things at face value. I see the butthurt, I enjoy it. Feed off it. Trollollololololololololol.

But anyway, I refuse to accept that mediocre (at best) weapon is the ultimate one until I see it from who Ik will get it. So until then nobody knows for sure

I will go with Drasca (doesn't always happens) on this one:

The only evidence that matters: Equipped item in MP. All else is speculation.

Never know, could make it happen with a small patch.

While we're at it...I'd like to add a crazy variant of the secret weapon being able to proc Walking Fortress using Nugs to circle around the player that would only injure the enemy upon contact.

I didn't choose the Nug life...the Nug life chose me!

Nope, lol. I don't mind providing the facts and all I can do in my power is to debunk your arguments. Drasca is wrong as well, so quoting him doesn't prove anything.

I know for sure. You can choose to refuse the facts. Prepare yourself to be disappointed :)

All I know is, the weapon will most likely be disappointing to us due to the amount of items needed to fill the requirements to even have a chance at it. Luke said it would be slightly above the hakkon weapons, but with the grind required to fill the manifest nothing less than a rocket launcher with 9000% crit dmg will be acceptable. Look at the current lvl 27 weapons added to the loot table and ask yourself, would you really equip them over your hakkon?

Would be even funnier if you did this to Renn in Descent... David Hayter has experience voicing characters hiding in boxes.

The fact that this thread exists might have already altered the course of the weapon.

It's already been demonstrated that hot fixes to existing weapons are possible (the changes to the berserker weapons are a good example).

What ever form this sword currently exists in could easily be altered in terms of damage numbers and special procs. Luke be might working on it as we speak given the amount of disappointment around here.

I'm definitely withholding judgement until I see it myself.

what the?... seriously i'm gonna have to call you out here but do you even understand how data mining works?

Also those were horrible examples you posted, you even noticed with the link to the past example but the same applies to smash(not easy to data mine something only on a console so long ago), and as for batman, its WAY EASIER for a room to remain hidden than it is for something like a weapon(or anything that goes into your inventory really) because devs aren't gonna explicitly name a room "secret room" and you have to go over map layouts so its very possible to overlook these. if you are data mining a game its almost impossible for something that goes into your inventory(specially weapons) to be "missed" or overlooked.

Wavebend found only ONE weapon which fits the criteria of our infamous super weapon, and its the only weapon unaccounted for in the mp, or do you nay sayers really think a weapon that's not even in our files pops out of thin air into our inventories? get real. However Drasca is correct as well, until we equip this weapon in mp we don't know for sure what its stats are, specially since mp can he hot fixed to tweak things without a patch necessary.

If this is it, then I am not too sad that I will likely never get it.

Personally, I really wished Luke would have given us some ridiculous damage/weapon proc Army Dirk.  That would have been justice.

Incorrect. The MP variants of the lvl 27 weapons are different

The only one with a statistical difference that I'm seeing is Edgewise that lost a point in Armor Rating.

The Dancer's Axe and Andruil's Gift are most likely replacement weapons for Arrowwood and Single Incarnation.

We didn't get the really useful weapons in MP either such as The Clasping Maw (~306 AoE, ~346 dps, 46% heal on kill, Chance to blind targets, 7% attack, 7% stagger when hit), the Prismatic Greataxe and its counterpart the Chromatic Greatsword (Axe has +15% to fire, cold, electric and spirit resistance and has a chance for random elemental damage; Sword has +30% fire, cold, electric and spirit resistance and has a chance for random elemental damage) and the Armada Captain's Knife (which turns the end of any rogue combo into an AoE attack in a circle around them).

Instead we got Bolt, Brand (which isn't in SP) and Rime which are so highly situation based they're about useless without a faction selection, especially if you're intending to make the leap from Perilous to Nightmare or Nightmare to Heartbreaker.

As for the Ilvl 26 Descent weapons, they're all the same still

Side Note: If they wanted the Drakescale armor to be such an amazing reward why didn't they give them a masterwork property?

3. is that the room full of blue rupees?

There's still plenty that are super impossible to find such as perfecting the jump in Super Mario Bros to end up in World -1. One of the silliest thats in a new game is being able to walk outside the perimeter of the map in Dying Light by using the Grappling Hook in a random cave that has a single space of open area to attach to.

Server push won't change the item stats (base dmg) or the attributed ability (crescent blade). However, it's very possible that the cooldown + damage values for the 2x cold barrage proc can be changed w/o a patch. Current CD is 8s
