The SSV Normandy SR2 was a fine Frigate. but am not sure that is gonna be Enough we now have the new "Next gen consoles"a and they can do more now. Can't wait for the game to come out so i can play it in 4k.Id love to explore more of the world of mass effect and engage in space battles with a fully upgradeable  Cruiser.

Is that the official name of the new Ship?

Considering that leaked information on DAI turned out to be true it's the same for the leaks of MEA.

I'm not sure a cruiser is necessary for an exploration team. I'm thinking the ship will be between the size of the two Normandy frigates, and hopefully will be able to land and deploy the Mako from the ground.

Well if the whole Ark theory thing turns out to be correct then ide expect us to have a relatively small, fast ship for planetary exploration, so there would be no need for any thing big & powerful as that's where the ark would come in.

I think because the ship needs to be fast to get in and out of system it will probably still be a frigate. They can still make it a bit bigger than the SR-2 instead of giving us a cruiser.

That's an awful number of pixels to move around.

I doubt there will be any space battles...unless it's a cinematic cut scene.

I disagree your lack of faith in Bioware  disturbing j/k.I think with the new frostbite  3 engine they can do more. granted the new "next generation consoles" might need some tweaking down to  720p 30 fps by the time the game comes out in 2016 but  it is still vary doable.

The leaks said there would be 7 companions and the devs confirmed in some article that there would be 7 companions.

Well as long as the squadmates are more like the ones in ME2 and not ME3.

A Cruiser is not technically suited for exploration, and since exploring is what we're going to do, I guess we'll stick with frigates for now.

Also think about it, the length of a Cruiser is no joke. You will have to fill it with tons of crap and crew and stuff, probably having various loading screens inside I really don't feel like it could be viable. Unless every single thing we're gonna be doing is going to involve ship fight (which I sincerely doubt) it wont make much sense to move around in a Cruiser. If anything, I'd prefer to be in one temporarily like in a specific quest or something.

An epic mission like the Space Combat in the Battlefront games.

Oh come on, it's Frostbite on next gen and even dreadnoughts are about kilometer long. Loading screens on cruiser would be there only if Bioware really wanted them.

I'd rather go smaller. Bioware didn't really seem to know what to do with a warship, even a Frigate.

The only crew roles that actually have anything to do are a pilot and an engineer or two, so we might as well go to something more Millenium Falcon in size where a two man crew fits well enough.

I mistook the thread theme. Looked at the title and thought the O/P was asking about Tom Cruise as a VA.

It's a modified version of the Frosbite, the engine itself was made for a 1st person game running a multiplayer map. Still, I don't think there's a limitation (not in PC at least) in the game engine department this time. But as I've said, we would get a Cruiser if the game was about space battles instead of discovering and exploration. Everything seems to suggest that exploration is the thing we're going to do.

You would send a Cruiser if there was a battle to be fought, you wont sent a Cruiser to explore and scout ahead.

The crew itself will have to be composed of hundreds of npcs. And seeing how things went in the past, it would be hundreds of npcs that can't be talked to or interacted in any way. What's the point? (quality over quantity applies here). You would also spent a lot of time running around just to get quests or stuff like that. Imagine the Normandy 100 times bigger, it would eventually be a pain in the backside.

I understand that it'd super cool to be in one of those, hell maybe even a Dreadnought or a Carrier, but It wont suit the story of the game very well. In the trilogy we were a commander of an exploration ship, not a warship. Andromeda apparently will be similar if not totally focused on exploration.

Ye, but we're talking about Mass Effect.

That might be but if  were exploring  a frigate is gonna have limited fuel suppl. so its range will be limited.now With a cruiser you would not have that issue and refueling would not be a Issue. how are we to know this new  Galaxie might be a one way trip.and with a cruiser you would have more people for a more viable breeding population for colonization.
