Bolters literally shoot spiders at you.

Afterthought: From joke to Hmmm... if poison was attached to the attack then add the tiny crawling spiders from the Nightmare Demon spell and boom! It would totally look like Bolters shot spiders at you. XD

PS4 is back on now, but auto attack isn't working at all regardless of which weapon type I try. My character kinda just half heartedly waves his right arm around rapidly repeating the first quarter of a second of the animation before restarting it while the ability icons blink rapidly.

Tried restarting the game, swapping controllers, nothing fixes it. No other game is affected, so it's not my console or controllers.
