There are 2 things to remember when crafting in this game:
-What stats do I want on my armor and weapons?
-What Fade-Touched Material effects do I want on all of my equipment?
If you can grasp these questions and answer them, you'll understand crafting. If you can't, just stick with looted gear.
Because the in-game armors might give you a cool appearance but most of the stats will be cr*p or pointless for the character you give them to. Most people want cool stats and appearance.
That and I didn't even use the DLC gears. They come so late in the game that I don't even want to bother changing my cool gear for them.
