So we know that Solas want to bring down the veil. And doing so will destroy the current world. BUT after that will the other races be able to survive? Or will it just be the elves that Solas keeps around?
So the world will end... but?

Well if ya know anything about Solas, it's that his plans don't usually go as intended......So anything could happen. The one thing I am sure of is that whatever happens there will be mass chaos and destruction.

When the Veil is removed, there will be nothing separating the worlds of spirits and mortals. Anyone who has ever taken that fun little time travel field trip through Redcliffe will know what that means. Demons will ravage the countryside, possessing and killing indiscriminately. In little under a month the only people still alive will be those who sleep in their battle armor. With the nations of men, dwarves and the Qunari in ruins Solas and his followers will re-establish the old Elven Empire after they have dealt with the imprisoned false gods and the demons (I suppose he accounted for the latter).
Solas will likely only keep those elves he deems worthy, all of whom will likely be magic users. It would appear that all elves at one point had been magic-users, and to Solas anyone who cannot use magic is little better than a Tranquil. If the theory posited by the Qunari in Trespasser is correct, that by strengthening the Veil you reduce the flow of magic and born mages, then opening it will make potentially every newborn a mage.
So no, no other race will survive this new and horrible world Solas wants to establish.

I suppect much of the populationsof the other races including the modern elves will die though the dwarves will likely be the least impacted while the people who will do best will be people like Abblas and his followers as well as the other ancient elves that Solas mentioned who still linger or sleep in the remote places of the world who will if what solas does works have their world back.

That being said I don't think it will spell the extinction of all other races. But civilizations like Orlais, Tevinter etc. will probably crumble and the old Elvhen will definitely restablish their empire, whether that's a good or bad thing remains to be seen.

I worry that the darkspawn will not only survive, but thrive. They originated in the Fade, after all.

The taint did but the bodies it inhabits did not.

demons vs darkspawn vs people vs Solas

Inquisition set the bar pretty high for an intense storyline becausr of the mass rift in the sky, demons pouring out of rifts, on top of the rebellion and tevinter rogue sect.
That Royale would be pretty cool. Demons and Spirits freely entering the world because the weakening on the veil. Darkspawn happening to find an Old God and having an Archdemon with the DS army on the countryside. Solas continuing to merge the world and fade with "his" elves sect helping him. Along with the Qunari invading the human countries and in fighting among nations. Now, that would make for epic storyline intersecting until the very end. It would be nice to see at least 3 or 4 origins (though not long openings) like a dwarf coming from Orzammar, noble from a human country, qunari (Tal vashoth or Qun spy to screw things up), city/dalish elf heading to tevinter. Of those enemy factions, each has a stake in this. Of course, I'm just rambling but that would definitely raise the stakes without leaving a race left as an "outsider".

Me I simply vote for a Tevinter Magister saving the day and then watch the southern chantry have a collective aneurysm at the idea that a Tevinter Magister saved the world.
Sounds possible.

Did they? There are red lyrium artifacts that predate the First Blight, so the Black City is unlikely to be the original source of the taint.

I still theorize that Solas' plan at this point is to start another Blight anyway, in order to cause enough death to not just weaken the Veil, but break it down completely, and thus, nobody in particular is more or less likely to survive (although Solas may create a "safe zone" or three for his followers), but the world as we know would be effectively laid waste. Thus, the Darkspawn will thrive, for some amount of time, though it's hard to say exactly what would happen to them with no Veil, given the whole spirits-and-Taint-aren't-compatible thing in Origins.

Is there anyone in Thedas whose plans go as intended?

Solas will succeed, but then, out of nowhere, Sandal will appear and yell ENCHANTMENT!
Then Solas will burst into flame and be swallowed by an eluvian.
This was a joke but I bet this **** will happen. Kid was found in a weirdo elven-dwarven thaig or something (it's, uh, been a while since I perused WoT2) and regularly
If Solas turns out to be the antichrist or w/e, Sandal is my Jesus.

It's not clear exactly what Solas will do (to the world) if he succeeds. In the Library, we learn that somehow the Veil "split" the world in two, and many of the trans-dimensional spaces created by the elves were devasted. But the actual world - what we think of as the world - is rife with Elvhen ruins. So the physical locations will survive. And many of the elves survived - we don't know if many were killed in the actual transformation, versus in the ensuing chaos.
It sounds like Solas locked away a part of the world, and that's what locked away the Evanuris, the very nature of the elves (i.e., their immortality and magic) and may well have affected the other races (e.g. humans).

No one knows what's going to happen.
If someone tells you they DO know what's going to happen, they're lying out their a**. No one knows what Solas' plan really entails. He goes into no detail himself. Even the destruction of the world isn't guaranteed - Solas himself calls such a scenario "likely" and not "assured," and frankly, there's probably a lot more going on here than "elven supremacist murders everyone because reasons."
So, we don't have a single clue.

No, we have clues from Solas himself. He told us of the death and destruction that was likely to occur. And he's the one that's gonna do it.
That's enough for me.

It would be funny if his plan goes wrong, in that loads of people actually survive the Veil tearing down and now pretty much everyone in Thedas is a super-mage.
I would pay to see his face if that happens.

I don;t think we're even going to confront all this in the next game. Maybe run into some agents here and there. Know that he's out there. But I don;t think this storyline is going to continue in full in the next game.
Probably closer to an end of series scenario.

Enough for you to - what? Say his plan will likely result in chaos and destruction? That's ONLY part of this thing we can say for sure, really, and even that statement carries a "likely" tacked on.

For all we know, that may be what he wants. That may be his plan going right.
We have no idea.
