His poor Warden Kadan. They probably brainwashed the "I will not look for you on the battlefield." right out of him.
My poor baby. Maybe we can send Dog to fight him? (Err... Dog's descendants, at this point.)
Can't wait for him to show up to kick ass in DA4. Sten is a true Qunari, he won't let some puny friendship stop him from following his belief till death.
I bet they'll let us choose who to side with in Tevinter between the blood mages and Qunari.
If we side with Tevinter, Dorian lives. If we side with Qunari's, Sten lives.
WHY
Hopefully we find out the true backstory about the qunari and have the option to tell him. Either which would led to a truce and reform or a mental breakdown leading to him dying.
I don't think either is likely. The Qunari don't seem particularly concerned with where they came from, only with what they do (in this case, follow the Qun). Some of the Ben-Hassrath already theorize about dragon blood and all that, so I don't think they'd be shocked and appalled to find out ~the truth~ or w/e.

sten reks everyone tho
Not really. My Warden already kicked his butt 1 on 1 in Haven. And he'd be glad to show him who's the boss once again. As a friend though.
Edit: Although I'm afraid my Warden doesn't know how to fight anymore, since dual wielding warriors were removed...

- "I challenge you to a duel motherf*cker!" The Warden screamed as he attempted lift his swords only to find that he could lift the one but not the other, as if by magic.
- "Kadan, you cannot even lift your weapons and you will not win in a fist fight." The Arishok said archly. "Besides Qunari do not have mothers."
- The Warden abandoned his weapons and unleashed his first volley. "Ah but you do you just don't know who they are!" He said, pointing to the stern yet sensual older qunari women flashing both the Arishok and the Warden bedroom eyes.
- The Arishok spluttered for a moment as the realization dawned on him and then fell to his knees. "Finish it Kadan."
- The Warden picked a knife from his belt, the knife he saved for all these sad duties. "Taarsidath-an halsaam. One of your priests said that to me, I hope it helps."
- Before The Arishok could even gasp the deed was done.

We might just find a Qunari who looks just like Sten, and happens to be the Arishok.

Or I could just shoot myself in the head and be spared the pain of seeing either one die.
Seriously, though, that would be one of the hardest choices in the DA franchise. Even harder than deciding who stays in the Fade.

Right there with ya.
Much harder than the Fade for me, because... Stroud. >____>

He would make a terrible leader for invading Orlais. He couldn't get anything done because he would be too busy with ALL THE COOKIES AND CAKE EVERYWHERE!

Comics. Also, Bull will mention that the new Arishok is unique in that he doesn't have any horns. Dunno if it's mentioned anywhere else.

I really hope that Sten as Arishok makes a grand return appearance in DA4, whether as adversary or not!!

In addition to the comics as others have mentioned, and the Iron Bull dialogue about the new Arishok having no horns, World of Thedas 2 drops anvil-sized hints about the new Arishok being a hornless qunari with a penchant for philosophy and intelligent strategy, a belief in knowing one's enemy as the key to victory, and other traits that just scream Sten ![]()
Notably we never see Sten's body if left in the cage - the revered mother said maybe it would be nicer to kill him than leave him for the darkspawn, and maybe she tried (and failed) that. Anyway, having no body for proof puts him one up on a dead Leliana...
Also, the Arishok at Kirkwall is not the current Arishock regardless of choices. A dialogue with Varric lets you know they court-martial him (or whatever the qunari equivalent is) and strip him of his position if you handed Isabela over to him.

All those Qunari look the same, anyway...

My Tal-Vashoth Iron Bull will personally slay that Qun loving robot.
The Iron Bull stands no chance against the mighty Sten!

First, the World of Thedas runs on it's own canon... And the developers like to remind everyone that one's DA canon is one's own...
Second, it should be noted that Bull doesn't make that "the new Arishok has no horns" statement if Sten isn't given his sword....
Third, while it's nice to think that Sten may have survived Lothering, Sten resigned himself to the death after losing his sword and finding it missing after waking and murdering the people who helped him. Sten also felt there was no hope to ever find the sword(the Warden has to bring it up and do all the work). So, for Sten to leave the cage, without the Warden's help, would be tantamount to declaring himself Tal-Vashoth... Which would put a crimp on the idea of him becoming Arishok.

Actually no. The WoT stuff is all canon across all playthroughs, unless I missed some salient information. If you meant the comics, well, Warden!Alistair talks about things that happened in the comics as King!Alistair, so it seems like the same stuff happened whether he was king or not.

If Leliana can come back as a Lyrium ghost, I'm pretty sure Sten can be the Arishok no problemo. >____>
And cows can fly over Minrathos *with* wings.

The vast majority of WoT is about the events and history of Thedas prior to the events of Origins. And, because of that, it is canon across all playthroughs, because there is nothing to conflict with any choices that cold possibly be made(just like how Stolen Throne and The Calling are canon across all playthroughs).
But if any part of WoT mentions Sten being the new Arishok, that aspect of it is as canon as the Silent Grove.... Meaning It's only canon if you made the choices to put it there.

Conflict with Sten will likely be inevitable, seeing as he is the canon Arishok. I look forward to an honorable duel to the death with him.
This battle doesn't have to be filled with grief over the fact that many of us consider Sten a friend. It is the warrior's way. My only regret would be to slay him without him considering it an honorable duel. I always respected the certainty of the Qunari and I would like for him to die with that same certainty he's always had.
I thought the Arishok of DA:2 was a great character and enjoyed him. I felt no remorse slaying him, because that's just how it is. If anything, I'm glad he died by his own terms and not in a forced battle.

Sten is just a title, there's nothing stopping another hornless Sten from being Arishok if yours died in the cage.
