Sorry, poor phrasing. I just mean that sometimes we can tell people things even if others expressly wish you not to, like telling Dorian the truth about his father's letter even though mother Giselle doesn't want you to. So I just wondered why you couldn't do that with Alistair as well.

There's another question I've been asking myself: Assuming s/he survived the Blight, did the Warden learn about Alistair's real parentage?

I mean, it's true that Wardens don't communicate much, even among themselves, but there must have been a few higher-ups in the Order who knew about it, and by Awakening, the Warden's pretty high on the Order's hierarchy.

Sooooo, did they learn about it during their stint in Amaranthine? And if they did: did they then inform Alistair?

Why would the wardens know? She was no lnoger a warden at that time. Only Eamon, Duncan, Maric and Loghain would know and all of them refuse to say the truth.

Wasn't Alistair born in Weisshaupt, though? At the very least, Fiona was very pregnant when she went there for her debriefing: it always seemed to me that the First Warden and his inner circle were privy to Alistair's origins.
