My top genres rank as :

Medieval-Fantasy
Space Sci-fi
Post-apocalyptic Wastelands.

I do hope the next DA gets an announcement in the near future. I want Bio to take its time with development but having an announcement keeps hope

What I find a little baffling and ironic about this is that in an MMORPG (which I hope is a stillborn of whoever at BioWare should dare to dream it), is that the race matters even less. If there's any kind of story at all, it won't impact it in any way. So what makes this more interesting than a character that actually has dialogue and a variable personality?

I'm not a fan of Bioware stories, so they are more of an obstacle to the characters I create than something I enjoy following. This should be enough to understand why an MMO would be better. But considering SWTOR... not that better.

Let's take Inquisition... I'd never accept the role of Inquisitor. I'd like to be an elf, but not a dalish one. I'd like to be and do a lot of stuff I can't. MMOs shove less "story" down our throats so we are more free to be what we want, usually.

I understand people who like their character handled to them (Shepard argh), but I like creating my characters by myself, with their unique backgrounds, motivations and personalities. This made me hate Inquisition until Trespasser when I luckily had the Inquisitor behave as I would like to, allowing me to connect. But it was PURE luck. If I was unlucky the character would have a behavior which I can't connect at all (like through all the main game). Sometimes character is great (Hawke) sometimes you hate (Inquisitor before Trespasser)

No, I'd rather them keep on trucking with Mass Effect.  I mean, having them abandon an IP that is nearly complete so that they can shift development to Dragon Age, which probably is barely into its concept stage, while dropping assets; wasting resources; paying for voice actors who have already recorded their lines but now may not be used...nah, can't see the justification.  I mean, I DO want a new Dragon Age, but if they are going to rush it, no way, screw that!  I want them to take their time, and craft a truly memorable entry for the next in the franchise.  If anything, I'd have them shift assets away from the The Old Republic, as they probably don't need that big of a team once this current expansion is done.  Move them over ONCE Dragon Age is out of concept and into actual development.  Considering the amount of money lost were Mass Effect to be abandoned, it would have a serious detrimental effect upon ALL projects currently underway at Bioware.  Last thing I want to have happen is Bioware to suffer a serious financial loss and EA to snatch up the rights to Mass Effect, and Dragon Age while booting Bioware out of the picture.

Bioware needs to take its time, and make something that blows the socks off all of its previous endeavors.  The NEXT Dragon Age HAS to step up the game.  They already raised the stakes...don't ask them to drop the ball before the game begins.

EDIT:   'd

Honestly, they need to develop both at the same time.  Slight overlap of fans will of course happen, but is this really a bad thing?

The majority of people who worked on DA are currently working on the new IP, not MEA.

This saddens me.  I do not want another modern day zombie game.  I played The Secret World and that was enough.  (Yes, I know that was not BioWare.)

Eh, who cares. I think the OP was tongue in cheek and just a clever way to express his/her love of DA. It's not like Bioware is going to drop Mass Effect! No worries!

Also, "hofflenosh" is my new favourite word.

It's truly a lovely word no? So politely dismissive and old school

Actually... that's even worse. If they're stuck on a brand new IP that means an even longer wait.

I'm really hoping for a contemperary urban fantasy with magical creatures either out in society, still hidden or maybe just released from a magical prison. Give me bioware True Blood without all the vampires. I want to see witches and fairies and the like doing their thing. I think some camp could be really fun.

It won't happen, but I agree, OP. I used to be a fan of both franchises, even though I've always preferred DA, but ME3 destroyed my regard for ME. Now I couldn't care less about it. If it ended now, I would say "Good, now they can use the resources for something else".

I preferred ME to DA before ME3, but other than that those are my thoughts exactly.

I support the OP all the way... because they used the word "hofflenosh" in a sentence. "Awww, hofflenosh!" And also 'cause I never played ME (much) and am a DA junkie. But I got time before I'm tired of DAI and ready to move on.

While I'm looking forward to ME:A, i wouldn't say no... Mainly because I'm still nursing a heartbreak caused by a certain elf and would prefer not to wait three years to see Solavellan!

Whyyyyy biowareeee

If you ask me, they should've dropped the Mass Effect franchise after ME3, and concentrated on Dragon Age and their new IP from that point forward.

Wtf is their new IP anyway? I feel like they've been working on it for years now and we still have no news about it.

While they've got multiple teams, they still don't want to release games so close together that they end up splitting their audience. (Especially since there are DLC sales to consider, not just the base game.)

My bet is that we won't see DA4 until 2018, alas.

Meh... I want some ME:A to get some variation. I like DA, but I need a little break from the medieval setting now.

I'm done with elves and ancient gods for a while. Now I want to kill aliens and hit on my subordinates.

+1. Too late for that now, though. Maybe they feel they can still build on the original trilogy's success (no matter the ME3 ending controversy, it was a success).

It's actually rather new. The one they worked on for a while was dropped last year.

This thread is ass-backwards...Dragon Age should have been done after Origins; this series has been on a downward spiral ever since we defeated The Mother in 'Awakening'. The Mass Effect team can release as many games as they want because they know exactly what they want their game to be.

And I say that as someone who prefers the Dragon Age universe...

The Mass Effect trilogy let you continue your story with the same hero for all three games; Dragon Age can't figure out if you're a Warden, Champion, or Inquisitor...where's the focus?

The Mass Effect trilogy knew exactly what it was and faithfully stuck to it's formula as an action-RPG; Dragon Age started as a tactical, story-driven, PC-RPG and two games later turned itself into a hack-n-slash, fetch-questing, Skyrim clone.

People in here are ripping ME3 while pretending like DA2 didn't exist...difference being Mass Effect was successful enough to warrant a 4th game, while DA2 and DAI may be the nails in the coffin of the Dragon Age series.
