Let us design our own background.

You mean the one no one would ever be able to recognize in-game?..It's there, actually, had always been for those who need it. It's called 'headcanon'.

My Trevelyan is mine, with all her biography, personality and her dirty little secrets. I know everything about her, first kiss and favorite perfume included.

So far Hawke is the most 'preset' PC, but even Hawke is headcanon-friendly when it comes to the relations with their family and their personal background. Trevelyan is even more 'blank slate', they can be literally anything from a devoted Andrastean zealot knight in shining armors and to the spoiled daddy's girl rogue, one can even go John Snow headcanon a bastard. So I'm not sure what are you asking for.

I tend to think that if the noble background might be " boring, " it's not " because humans are boring or nobles are boring ", it's simply because Bioware uses it often as a blank state, and doesn't do much compared to the potential it could give. Being a noble in DA:I basically doesn't mean much. Zero intrigues, zero privileges shown, zero differences, zero sacrifices that a noble is forced to do, zero servants or soldiers at our service. It's a bit blur to be honest.

Being a Trevelyan basically doesn't change anything compared to an elven inquisitor, ( except gaining 5 approval points from orlesian nobles lol ). What we learn about the trevelyan is bland, our parents are bland, the lines talking about the protagonist and his origins are bland, the content with the noble background is bland. Everything is bland. What does that even mean being a noble in Ostwick ? Why couldn't we see one of our cousins and learn more about our family, the power they hold ? ...

Any background could be totally interesting if it is very well done in my opinion. It's all about the content and how much Bioware wants to invest into the origins and backgrounds. I totally loved the noble origin with the Aeducan for example. While, it isn't a human background, I found the noble background very interesting. It could totally happen to a human too...

This is true actually. Although I'd rather an option to play both a noble and "humble" origin for each race- and I'll always like the "humble" one better because I'm me- the fact is that they don't have to make a human noble origin look like a Barbie-Ken doll or a scene from Beaver Cleaver. The dwarf noble origin in DAO had a very rich story with lots more to it than the human counterpart. Just because they do the usual human noble routine doesn't exempt the devs from making it interesting. The draw to marry Alistair and become a king/queen was one of the biggest draws for playing Couslands- but neither interested me, and neither lent anything to the background of the human protagonist. They did manage to make humans look more interesting in DAI IMO- like just another race with its particular body/facial quirks- they still haven't made them play particularly interestingly IMO.
