I am wondering how much gold you get in DAO. i have 50 gold now and and i am maybe 50 % through the game. I see recipes and things that are tempting but i am wondering if i can afford them or should i keep the gold for better things ?
So is there enough gold i don't want an exact figure just an idea of whow much gold i can expect if i do most of the quests.
As of now my group has 168 plus in gold,silver and copper and my group has entered the Demerim to buy the Wintersbreath staff, and to cover Alistair's and Leliana's Denerim request.
If you only have 50 gold then you're not picking up the dropped goodies or opening the treasure chests. I equipped my party members with the stronger weapons and armor I find in these chest. Also you get EP for opening these chests. The surplus junk is sold for more gold since I do not like to carry junk I will not be using once a equipment upgrade is made.. My main party gets the first dibs on the new equipment then the remaining party members. Doing the side quests helps fill the group's treasury funds as well.
I'm the type of player that can not dede bop by a treasure chest without opening it or without picking up the drop goodies.. I started this habit playing Final Fantasy 1 when it was first released 88/89?
I think the number varies if you have a party versus if you are going solo.I'd say 350K to 400k for a party, 750K if you solo.
All that's assuming you don't use the duplication trick to get infinite gold or something similar.

Aside from hitting all the chests and doing the quests, always remember to ask for rewards or more rewards when money comes up in conversation. That's why you should beef up your persuasion/coercion skill to make the most of those situations.
If I had to guess what the max amount of sovereigns you could gather (assuming you never bought anything), it would be around be around 200. So you have to prioritize on high cost items. High powered staff or rune? Etc. Or, as seems your inclination, you may want to spend money to gather the more potent recipes for potions/poisons/grenades.
Deadly dwarf,As of now my group has around 170 in the treasury after returning from Ostagar and selling the junk...I sold a lot of junk since yesterday.
IIRC the most I ever had around 280/290 at the end of the game.
Thanks for the replies seems i cant spend gold too freely. But i have some leeway on what i buy.
