A little disappointed in how quick the hawke storylined went. What kind of hawke did you import? Mine sadly was the stock version who turned out to be a simple mage.
Also did anyone else find varric's storyline a little bit uneventful? (boring)

yeah i agree varric didn't seem like he fit into this one very much. Even hawke didn't really feel the same.
I agree completely. I expected a lot more out of Varric but even what you could asked him just seemed out of place. My inquisitor did not have time to read Varric's novels and other than that, there really wasn't much.
For my next playthrough I will import an angry rogue Hawke who is in love with Isabella, kills Anders, has a sister in the Wardens and sided with the mages because screw the Templars, the Chantry and every other group of asses who made his family run. An Aggressive Hawke seems more in line with how Hawke acts when arguing that the Wardens should be put to task anyways.
My biggest beef with Hawke's place in the story of DAI is that he comes in claiming that Corypheus is his problem and he will help deal with him but then leaves before the dust even settles at Adamant. Why? Send one of those nameless Wardens with a memo and stay to fight the insane Magister Darkspawn who wanted your blood!
Varric's story was ok, it was good to finally meet the real Bianca. By the way, she wouldn't happen to dabble in armed prosthetics would she?
i already did that on my second playthrough. I pretty much made hawke angry and an avid mage supporter as a warrior himself. It just seemed to make alot more sense and coincide with the storyline, i just cant see him being a super nice dude after all his family has been through.
I also made the hero of ferelden lovers with leliana until unfortunately he had to kill her over a dispute with the ashes.
My first playthrough i never knew about the keep and i had no intention of beating the first two again, so it wasn't a random storyline from my friends game.
Now things are definitely more interesting not only with hawke but with the hero of ferelden as well who by the way also died killing the archdemon and spared loghain and made alistair a warden as well. So in this playthrough not only will i support the mages but i will also not banish the wardens like i did last time. I also do not intend to recruit any other followers because they just tend to sit there in the keep. My core consists of solas , inquisitor , cassandra, and varric and its more than enough.
Quite frankly it also makes cycling through the equip screens a heck of alot easier.
The problem with Hawke for me... is that if I made her into the badass bloodmage she was... she felt so underwhelmingly weak... every freaking time. Sure the storyline was short... but atleast make Hawke superpowerful... with abilities not in the base game.
I imported the generally good Hawkes of both genders, and all different classes and romance options for most of my playthroughs (where I sacrifice Stroud) and invented the most horrible and monstrous Hawkes I could come up with in the keep for the playthroughs where I had warden Alistair or Loghain so I wouldn't feel bad about leaving them in the fade lol.
Snarky Hawkes that romanced Fenris.
My sigh when snarky Hawke apparently turned into a douche canoe. My hawke's humor was his shield. not...whatever snarky Hawke was doing.
I imported a male mage sarcastic Hawke but the writers of DAI made sure he didn't show any resemblance to the amazing Hawke I played as a protagonist in DA2. This one was a douche overweight mage who couldn't have been the protagonist of any game. I'm sure that was the cheapest way the DAI writers/devs found to make sure that such great character couldn't have any chance to overshadow the atrociously bland and boring inquisitor and his total lack of personality.
And yes, DAI's Varric seemed to me as a fish out of water. Made me feel like he was totally forced to be following Mr. uninteresting glowing hand when instead, he would have been so happy adventuring with his best friend.

Hawke and Stroud are level 11 in the game too. Like, what the frak. I don't care what Stroud is, but my Hawke was a one-woman murder factory that could slice and dice bandits like a cleaver tornado. Also, if you play a rogue and decide that Hawke is going to take one for the team, the dual-daggers or bow magically turns into a two-handed sword. As if I needed another reason to just let Stroud throw his mustache into the abyss. But I guess my biggest problem was the personality. I had a snarky Hawke, but that seemed to be well behind her. I know people say Hawke's been through a lot so there's a good reason for that to be toned down but I don't give a nug's inflamed testicles about any of that crap. I miss the incessantly flippant Hawke that I loved.
sarcastic mage femHawke who supported the templars
Humorous Fem Hawke w/ Isabela FTW IMHO. Warrior sword and board...she was a fav...(I played this variant wayyyyy too many times to owe up 2).
Goodie Two Shoes Gay Male Hawke...died in the Fade, (he really got on my nerves).
Just imported my one Fem Hawke (Nice and green) w/Merrill romance. I think she'll make it. I'm starting a new play through with Xbox One (DLC didn't live on 360 so had to upgrade...broke down on a DLC...) so starting over on a fresh play thru. In memory of Fem Hawke b/c I just haven't been human in a while.
*shaking tiny fist...damn you BioWare
I'm weak...really weak***
Damn your writers!!!
You would write a great story driven DLC like ME3's send off;)
I do wish we would have had a tad more of Hawke in the last DLC. I mean you can even pick up a note where the ink is still wet from Tallis (sure my Fem/Hawke kissed her, but Isabela (a tad jealous) liked it). I'm sure they had great jealous/fighting or f$cKing sex...
Wow...I need a hobby...
Wait that's gaming...
I need another hobby...
That's writing...fanfic...
I need another hobby...
Hanging out on BioWare forums?!?
Yeah, I definitely need to get out and go do something...after this play through...for shizzle
One that I created in game. Haven't played DA2.
I only played through DA2 once, so I only had one Hawke to use that I cared about enough to maintain a Keep story that I'd actually played. That was a snarky mage femHawke who sided with the mages, etc. Then I created a bunch of otherwise generic Hawkes for other DAI characters so I'd be able to see how the different Keep selections affected the DAI storyline. Actually I sorta did that with my Wardens as well, more or less- cuz I'm a content-junkie. I'm leaving the generic Hawke face at the CC as well (minus the ridiculous blood smear across the nose)- other than the one I played.
I didn't think the Hawke storyline was so short though. You meet with him/her a number of times in a number of areas, even travel the entire length of the Fade with him/her. The only thing that irked me was when we got to the first encounter with Erimond in the Western Approach and Hawke suddenly seems to get cold feet and says, "You guys go into that dangerous fight without me. I'm gonna... uh... guard the door. Yeah, that's it." (I'm paraphrasing...) I mean, clearly the devs wanted us to do that fight without Hawke for some reason, but it wasn't the best way of orchestrating it. Otherwise I thought it was fairly extensive and interesting, and, though my "real" Hawke probably wouldn't have been so garrulous with the Wardens, all but one of the Hawkes I'm using are generic, so it works fine.
Female bloodmage, sarcastic, sided mages, romance fenris, didn't kill Anders. Friend with everyone except merril.
However the only thing in DAI that remind me the champion armor equipped lady is indeed my Hawke is her voice and her sarcastic tone. Without it, I could hardly link that horrible-faced bloodmagic-hater as my Hawke from DA2.
And I also import a worldstate where Alistair remain a grey warden. So...poor hawke.
Snarky mage Hawke that romances either Isabela or Anders. Always kills Bartrand cuz screw that guy. Carvie is in the Wardens, wish we heard SOMETHING from him. Sided with the mages naturally. Slept with Anders, Fenris and Isabela. Alas the keep doesn't keep track of that. Kissed Talis too. And told Sebastian to eat his belt buckle (if only that was an actual option).
First time a sarcastic female mage Hawke who romanced Merrill. Then the same, but a warrrior. Then an aggressive femHawke mage who romanced Isabela. They were all 'pro mage'. Then imported a sarcastic male Hawke mage who romanced Fenris and supported the templars.
They all ended up with the same personality in DAI so...
In my canon story with a Knight-Enchanter Inquisitor who allied with the Templars, Hawke is a diplomatic warrior (DA Keep doesn't care about spec, but he was mainly Templar with just a point or two in Berserker), who defended the mages (Bethany is a Circle mage) and rivalmanced Merrill (Eluvian destroyed, clan alive).
Snarky Hawkes that romanced Fenris.
My sigh when snarky Hawke apparently turned into a douche canoe. My hawke's humor was his shield. not...whatever snarky Hawke was doing.
I've played so many times, I've used about every variation of Hawke. Sadly they made Hawke and bland one dimensional character in DA:I.
What? Blood Magic?! RAWR!
Even though Hawke might have been a blood mage in DA:2 or at the very least he travelled with Merrill who used Blood Magic.
Because I generally don't like Carver and adore Bethany my head cannon is a Warrior or Rogue Hawke. However, I recently finished a DA2 pt with a Sarcastic mage Hawke (she was a force mage. Can I say I kinda miss force mage? Rift mage is not quite the same). Her comment about the makers bosom when the group got sucked into the fade was almost worth being stuck with Carver in DA2.
