I just started playing the multiplayer version and I have a question about the galactic readiness? Why is that after a few hours the percentage points drop by one point at a time? Just when you think you are at 100% you loose points, especially when you close the game and return to replay. It seems like you have to bounce back and forth from single-player to Multiplayer to maintain you 100% Readiness. The last single-player I played by the time I reached London, I had fallen from 100% Readiness to 95% Readiness. What is the secret to maintaining a 100% Readiness.

Play regularly? :S
The readiness locks in when you assault Cerberus HQ so after that a fall in readiness doesn't matter at all.
I suppose they kept making the readiness drop because... it makes sense?
If you're out fighting a war then just stop fighting said war for a week or two, you're going to lose some ground and your army is going to be too busy dealing with the loss of ground to go for one big assault?

I'm guessing your SP class is not an Adept, is it? The only way you can keep the Galactic Readiness at 100% is to suspend it with Stasis or Singularity, but you have to spec for duration. If it drops below, cast Lifting Shockwave.
The most other classes can do is to slow the rate at which it drops by using Cryo Ammo or Cryo Blast. Something like that. Proxy Mine spec'd for slow will also do the trick.
GL, Soldier.
PS. Have you tried inputting "Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, b, a, start" at the intro screen?

The readiness will fall off in a non linear fashion, so to stay at 100% you would need to play multiplayer fairly consistently. Usually there isn't much difference in EMS between 100% and 97% so it is largely inconsequential to your ending math.
If you are obsessed with keeping readiness at 100% though, the other way to gain readiness is via the Galaxy at War minigame through N7 HQ.

With how high the readiness is with just multiplayer points...There is no need for Shepard at all..him / her can step aside and let the special forces handle it.
right after the mars mission, my readiness is 100%
and also with the readiness dropping everyday ..is probably just a thing to keep you constantly playing..that whole "completionist" in all of us thing.

Thanks everyone. While I enjoy playing multiplayer I much prefer the single-player. I played the multiplayer this morning for awhile and got my readiness up to 96%. Went back and played the single-player immediately afterward. Played the single-player for awhile and then Saved and closed the game for about and hour. Came back to play the single-player and my readiness had dropped back to 95%. Where it has remained for the better part of the day.

No, my Shepard doesn't die in the end.

Actually I play both, when there are others playing multiplayer too. Living in the USA it is hit and miss to find people to play.

The short answer is that you can't maintain 100% readiness, except temporarily. It isn't necessary to, though.
The screen in SP should show you the expected result of the climax if you proceed, which is the only gameplay relevance of Galactic Readiness. You can reach the threshold for the breathe ending with as little as 50%. If you don't have many assets in SP, you can use MP to get yourself up to where you need to be, but otherwise, there's no need to be concerned with Galactic Readiness.
If it's a completionist thing, I completely understand! It took me a little while to get used to not having 100%.
As for how it works, there isn't a consistent "point drop per time unit" formula. It's more of a curve. The fastest drop will occur over the first couple of days after you stop playing. As you travel up the curve, the pace of percentage loss slows from several percentage points over a few hours to about 1 a day (those numbers are guesses on my part.)
If I stop playing for a month or so, I'll usually come back to a percentage between 60 and 70 percent, I think, but I'd bet the wiki has more precise details. I believe it takes a couple of months to drop to 50%. I'm curious enough that I might look it up.

You don't need spoiler tags for crappy endings that have been advertized as crappy endings the world over by upset fans. Because look, you'll be disappointed regardless.
Otherwise I agree. I'm very against spoiler tags not being used on forums. No matter how old a game may be.

Thank for the info. I just got done playing three games of the multiplayer and went from 93% to 99%. I was just trying to see if I could finish a single-player game with a readiness of 100% that's all. But, now I think I will go back to ME 1, as irritating as it is, and start a new character from scratch. I haven't played and Infiltrator or Sentinel all the way through.
