I'm just wondering why everybody loves Krem so much. It's not that I don't like Krem, I guess I just feel a little indifferent toward him. I mean he's kinda just there. I guess I'd probably feel different if he was a companion. But in all honesty the only reason I see to like him so much is the fact that he's voiced by Jennifer Hale. Anybody want to explain why you enjoy Krem's character so much?

Maevaris was far better.
But she's not in the game. Yet.

Because he's transgender and some people value such superficial traits over other important things, such as characterization. Personally, though, I actually thought Krem was okay. I wasn't crazy about him like some people here, but I did like hearing his stories about growing up in Tevinter.

Not only would she make an absolutely amazing companion, but the rage-storm on the boards would likely be hilarious.Honestly I don't get it either that's why I am waiting for Maevaris and hope she is a companion so we can actually you know get some development.

I like him, but he's slightly vanilla. But if he returned, he could get much more development, which would be cool. His past is definitely interesting.
A big part of it is the progress his inclusion represents. But I agree that I'm kind of more interested in Maevaris as a character, and I'd love if she played a large role in the next game.

He's a cool and laid back guy and I like his sense of humor and his inventive way of using a chair. I also like the glimpse of every day life in Tevinter for non-mage peasants that he gives us. I wish we'd been able to see more of him and have more conversations though ![]()

I'm also indifferent towards him/her/it. Maybe I'm a crazy person in this day and age of political correctness, but I canre *nothing* about who you're sleeping with, what's between your legs or what tone of skin you have. I care *who* people are, not *what* they are and Krem is incredibly flat, maybe because Hale tried too hard to be manly and it seeped into her tone instead of just the character. It felt somehow disjointed, like the whole point of the character was to say "look, WE INCLUDE!" and inclusion for the sake of inclusion just makes me go "meh".
He felt like a "token black guy" type of character.

I felt pretty indifferent towards Krem. The inclusion of a transgender character in the game is of course huge - arguably more significant than Maevaris in the comics because the game has a far larger audience than the comics, which only the bigger fans may read - but unlike Maevaris, Krem was severely lacking in characterization. Most of the chargers fall flat in this regard, being little more than two-dimensional, quirky mercenary band stereotypes.
Also Jandi, Krem is a he, no more and no less. Labeling transgender people/characters as "it" is callous at best and pigheaded at worst.

Well you should have probably read the entire post, not just the first sentence, but I guess that's too much to expect.

I'm not a huge fan of him, but I liked him from the start. I had to research him online though and hear a Gaider interview about the character before I understood why he was so androgynous and had a woman's voice. It wasn't clear to me just playing what was going on. At first I thought the devs were just experimenting with the theme of a tough woman, then maybe androgyny itself, but I can be dense at times, so... And the "reveal" conversation springs up sort of oddly, suddenly making you ask about it, but if you straight up ask "Woman or man?" you still don't get a straight answer (no pun intended).
But whatever the behind-the-scenes planning went into Krem, I like him, well, for the voice actress' performance, yeah, but mostly because of his cool, merc attitude, his playful smarting off at Bull, and his general low-key demeanor. He's a merc. That's his life. He's not supposed to be the most colorful character you've ever met. But he's got charisma, just like his Boss...

Saying that you "don't care" doesn't mean that calling someone an "it" is any less demeaning.

Aside his gender, which never mattered to me personally, I just generally liked him as a character.
He has a interesting background and a sarcastic distance towards it. His relationship with Iron Bull is also interesting in itself. I'm still kinda sad we never see him interact with Dorian, or anyone besides Iron Bull or the Inquisitor really..

Krem offers extra war table operations that help move the story along. I don't know what new items are rewarded with Trespasser, but I like the closure it offers to previous chapters. Plus his Chargers stories are hilarious. I never get tired of hearing them. He tells it like it is.

I haven't even finished ME1 yet, so I don't have the same sort of sentimentality about it others have. When it comes to Krem, well, to be a bit shallow, he's cute.
His relationship with Bull is also endearing, and the chair thing is funny. And yes, it's nice to see a trans character that isn't done as a joke. (I'm also hoping Mae will be a companion in DA4.) I've seen fans get worked up over characters that have a lot less going for them. (Who was Cullen again? THAT guy?

My only disapointment in Krem was not getting flak for saving the Chargers. I was expecting it. I destroy his best friend's relationship with his people, don't show the Chargers the trust & respect to get the job done, he should be mad. But he isn't really... He's not disappointed, not upset for Bull. It's like come on Krem, get mad, yell, bring out your inner renegade femShep!
I don't think Krem cared much about Bull's relationship with the Qun. If anything, that tie being severed means that Bull is free from obligations and there's no risk of him, you know, turning on everyone he knows because one of his superiors tells him to. The Chargers are his absolute priority, and that benefits anyone not of the Qun who cares about him. As for the second point, Krem doesn't seem like someone who would get shirty about being told to retreat, especially considering the implication that the threat was significant. I don't know, it all made sense to me.
But I like Krem because he's personable and the normal conduit between the Inquisitor and the quirky Chargers. His presence grounds them and keeps them from being a total joke. Plus, as someone else mentioned, his perspective on Tevinter is not one we've had before.
Although, why not ask why Scout Harding is so popular? Or Abelas or Barriss? All of them have vocal fans, so Krem is hardly the only minor NPC with a following.

To be honest I "personally" don't believe in the " I was born a Man/Women but im a Women/Man at heart" transgender thing. Call me ignorant im ok with that.
But as far as Krem I like her chararcter she ok, I dont get the big deal about her to. I more like the fact that she tells us that Tiveinter not big on women in the army.
Aslo who is this Maevarus person everyone keep talking about??
