Setting aside my personal opinions about transgendered people.... Krem is rather boring and unimportant. So I don't really understand the obsession and I wasn't sorry when Krem died... sort of glad to just wash my hands actually...

I never understood why everyone was crazy about him, either. Him being a trans character is cool and all, but yeah, I don't get why he's so popular/liked. He wasn't a very active character, or at least not active enough for me to actually acknowledge him beyond cutscenes with Bull, of which were OK.
It kind of makes me wonder if people would still like his character even if he was a complete arse. Hmm.

I'm just wondering why everybody loves Krem so much. It's not that I don't like Krem, I guess I just feel a little indifferent toward him. I mean he's kinda just there. I guess I'd probably feel different if he was a companion. But in all honesty the only reason I see to like him so much is the fact that he's voiced by Jennifer Hale. Anybody want to explain why you enjoy Krem's character so much?
SJW types like seeing such nonsense. It's all that matters to them.

My problem with krem is that bioware are essentially going HEY we are adding this character! look how progressive we are! That's the kinda vibe I get from Krem instead of you know being an actual character. I hope they do Maevaris justice when we go to tevinter and don't reduce it to "that" kind of story.

Krem got most of the lines from the Chargers, and was the lynchpin of the crew, so if you like the Chargers, you've gotta like their most indispensable member.

Grim was the best. He's the long lost heir to a kingdom somewhere!
Also, he has the most interesting lines of them all.

I find him likeable. His rapport with Bull is endearing, especially if you also like Bull.
Although, why not ask why Scout Harding is so popular? Or Abelas or Barriss? All of them have vocal fans, so Krem is hardly the only minor NPC with a following.
This. Somehow Krem fans have to prove themselves above and beyond, cuz the transgender thing scares certain people. It's how **** goes--the marginalized always have to be better than average just to be considered average.

But as far as Krem I like his chararcter he's ok, I dont get the big deal about him too. I more like the fact that he tells us that Tevinter not big on women in the army.
If I remember right Krem says that Tevinter is fine with women serving in the army, just that they seperate the women from the men.

Krem is kind of meh. He's just there, but honestly, I lean towards not liking him;
1) Because Iron Bull's team of super special misfits felt a bit too contrived and Krem is the poster boy for that given we see him the most. Having an odd duck or two is fine and adds character to a group. Having an entire mercenary company solely composed of odd ducks just feels like Bioware was trying too hard.
2) Krem came across as a trans-people PSA and having Bioware preach at me like that is a turn off. The game is Rated M, the target audience is old enough to form their own opinions and don't need a preschooler's lecture about how trans is A-OK.

He represents progress, however small.
What's actually interesting is that including someone for the sake of inclusiveness is actually the opposite of progress. It's like Political Correctness, all it does is exacerbate the fact that there are differences, it deepens the divide.
Now I actually think Krem was a good character and his inclusion in DAI was done pretty well. It was not including a trans character simply for the sake of including one, but a cool part of his whole character and gives us another personal view of Tevinter (very old society, old rules, very conservative), alongside Dorian's story.

Aslo who is this Maevarus person everyone keep talking about??
Did not know who this was either she is Maevaris Tilani a Tevinter magister recognized by the Imperial Senate and the widow of Varric Tethras' cousin Thorold. She is a character in the comic books. She is also transgendered.

He's cool, and has a cool sense of humour.
Personally I wish he was a companion, would rather him than Iron Bull. I also wish his role in the game was larger than what it was. It seemed to me like he was just thrown in there for the sake of, "Oh look, we have a transgender character!" (I don't have anything against transgenders at all and I find the concept of hating on that group of people to be rather petty and stupid, but any) but the idea of "acceptance" or "inclusion" should begin with making him a person with his own pros and cons first. It would send a better message if the audience could see his fighting skills and/or more of his personality for themselves.

This thread is going places. Terrible places, but places.
I like him because he stands on chairs and sticks bottles up his nose.
Pretty much.
Otherwise he was fine, the VA was inconsistent, there was this one time he said something and it was stretched really, really weirdly and I gigglesnorted. But! The delivery when he was talking 'bout his childhood was solid.

as for the topic, I simply like Krem because he's cool. Never gave me a reason not to like him within the game. As others have stated, I wish there was more character development with him.

y'all so disrespectful in this thread it is unbelievable...almost...i've come to expect it here which is unfortunate. I cringe for the people who are actually transgender and participate in discussions on this forum.
I saw a thread on the Codex once in which they were discussing a transgender person, they had plenty to say about her (as is their wont) but not a single person there went out of their way to use an incorrect/unwanted pronoun. It says some unpleasant things about the populace of the BSN, that's for sure.

I personally loved Krem for his personality and his quips with the Iron Bae. It makes him more likable if you end up romancing the Iron Bull becauuse you get attached to the chargers and what not. However. I do agree that several of his fans are only fans of him soley on the fact becauuse he's transgender which shouldn't be the main reason why you like someone. After all, everyone raves about Ruby Rose how she's so androgynous and beautiful despite looking very masculine despite the fact that she's not that great of a person (pretty much outing Demi Lovato). If we're talking about a 'better' character who is transgendered, I would definitely agree with good ol' Mae. She made the comics for me honestly and I really hope that Bioware invests her to appear. I mean she has to. We're apparently heading for Tevinter after all.
