I will never understand the Harding hype. She has some nice one liners but that's it?

If I had to guess, it's because she's the only "normal" person in the entire game lol.

Everyone else has this whole thing going on, and she's just a happy-go-lucky surface dwarf who used to be a farmer.

She's NORMAL and SANE. :)

Josephine shares the sanity and normalness. But I guess we did have a lack of that.

Not really. Josephine is a noble. Harding is a farmer who just sort of stumbled into this whole Inquisition business. :)

Eh going from a farmer to a spy isn't normal either if you want to be that specific about it.

Because she's adorable! She can be so awkward and shy when you flirt it's just so cute to me haha.

I guess the same can be said about Cullen though if you think about it, I remember in Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age 2 when people were going crazy over him even though he was barely in the games at all, this is the same thing, I guess you like who you like, personally I'm hoping Harding will be a romanceable companion in DA4!

2) Krem came across as a trans-people PSA and having Bioware preach at me like that is a turn off. The game is Rated M, the target audience is old enough to form their own opinions and don't need a preschooler's lecture about how trans is A-OK.

I definitely agree that Iron Bull's reaction to Krem is too extreme/forced/whatever but Krem's own dialogue and interaction is fine. I always cringe when bull starts his speech about how transgendered men are real men and the qun accepts their real manliness

Didn't care much for her. Krem's there  only to please a certain group of people .  The agenda ...

What group of people is that? I thought Krem was cool and if I have any kind of "agenda" it's for race choice for the PC and decent looking hair in the future...

I really don't get why so many people demand an explanation for why others like Krem but don't question people liking Harding, Barris, Abelas, Sampson, Calpernia, etc...it's not like Krem is insanely popular compared to those characters.

Not only would she make an absolutely amazing companion, but the rage-storm on the boards would likely be hilarious.

And hasn't there been a whole lot of rattling from certain segments here for Bioware to give us a blonde romance option?

Maevaris is great though. If we're in Tevinter, not including her would be a crime. I hope she's a party member at the very least.

Yeah but Cullen had actual traumatic events happen to him on screen. There's meat there. With Harding it's just...oh she's awesome. That's nice?

Oi! Leave my Barris out of this!

(Honestly he's the only sane man in the whole CotJ and INW hot mess. He gets brownie points just for that).

Hey now, I have no problem with him :D I just meant that the characters I listed get just as little interaction/screen time as Krem but no one questions or complains about people liking them

He's voiced by Jennifer Hale. And his sense of humor appeals to me. I don't need more reason than that to like him.

Because he's transgender and some people value such superficial traits over other important things, such as characterization. Personally, though, I actually thought Krem was okay. I wasn't crazy about him like some people here, but I did like hearing his stories about growing up in Tevinter.

This. Krem is a much better character if you ignore the whole political correctness nonsense surrounding him.

I don't know, I never really felt any connection to him before Inquisition, I was just like "Oh that's horrible, I feel kind of bad for him" and then moved on haha.

My point is, you like who you like and that's pretty much it haha.

That's only due to his personal quest, which was poorly done.

The only time Krem shows any emotion is when you ask him "why do you pass as a man?". That makes it his only defining characteristic.

I don't think that's true. Krem's loyalty and affection for Iron Bull are his defining characteristics. His role in the story - even if he has another point to his character - is to show that Iron Bull cares about his soldiers, that the chargers are more than an expendable part of his "cover".

So a minority character who does not have many lines in a game is just in there for the sake of inclusion or selling us on something?

Does that mean Scout Harding is only in the game to be another woman?

Does that mean Barris is only there to be another brown person?

Is Abelas a representation for narcoleptics?

Was Cullen just in DA:O to further the Blonde Agenda?

I guess we should replace every minor/supporting character in games with a cardboard box in a suit.

XD yeah it's pretty weird why people are so fixated on people liking Krem. Who cares minor characters always get a disproportionate amount of love/hate. This isn't new.

I guess since I played a fem mage in Origins that helped a lot :P

Oh yeah I forgot you got to flirt with him when you play as a female mage in Origins don't you, that's probably one of the reasons he got fairly popular, a possible romance that never lead anywhere, sort of like Harding, a possible romance that never leads anywhere. Damn you Bioware for constantly teasing everyone!  :P

I'm also indifferent towards him/her/it. Maybe I'm a crazy person in this day and age of political correctness, but I canre *nothing* about who you're sleeping with, what's between your legs or what tone of skin you have. I care *who* people are, not *what* they are and Krem is incredibly flat, maybe because Hale tried too hard to be manly and it seeped into her tone instead of just the character. It felt somehow disjointed, like the whole point of the character was to say "look, WE INCLUDE!" and inclusion for the sake of inclusion just makes me go "meh".

He felt like a "token black guy" type of character.

If I recall correctly twitters and interview expanations, Krem WAS very flat at the beginning of creation  when he was just a regular man. He was just a lieutenant, just a soldier, nothing special. And that was the reason they decided to add transgender card to make him stand out somehow. So, everyone was happy - Krem become more special, developers got the opportunity to play with a serious (not comical) transgender character, and community that cares got it's new gender in the game.

I honestly thought Cullen had one of the more interesting character arcs, particularly for a side character, in the series so far. Like you said, you like who you like, but even without flirting with him as a mage it's pretty engaging to watch him develop as a character, particularly considering he could have gone down a really dark path a few times but managed to pull himself out of it.

I care nothing for Krem, I always thought the part where you find out that he is actually a she pretending to be a he was just so random.  She mentions something about binding breasts and the inquisitor and his know all super knowledge figures out that OMG he's really a she.  I tend to just click the neutral option and forget that it even existed.

A few quests later and she'll be dead anyways.  Qun Bull For Life.

I have nothing against him/her.

His character was enjoyable to me, not because of the trans-sexuality, but because I liked the character. I also enjoyed Iron Bull's Chargers.

Personally, I strive to understand exactly why Scout Harding is as popular as she is, but I still accept it. I have nothing against her, but she was kinda just there if ask me.

Transgender people face a lot of hate, unfortunately, not only from straight people, but from gays and lesbians as well.

Yeah that's true, even though he's hardly in the first two games it's interesting to see him back in Origins to what he has become now, I'm actually happy that he got a bigger part in Inquisition because I think I would have continued to be not as fussed about him if he had another small role, but it was good to see what everyone else seemed to see in him.

You know, one of the things I dislike about Krem is something that a lot of people love: the fact that he is voiced by Jennifer Hale. Don't get me wrong she's a great voice actress, but she can't do a different accent to save her life. Her accent was sometimes fake Brittish, sometimes fake American south, sometimes her normal accent, and almost always awkward and weird. (Dat Bastilla too...)

I loved her as Lutece. But! I am terrible at hearing fake accents. Unless they're really, really bad.
