I loved her as Lutece. But! I am terrible at hearing fake accents. Unless they're really, really bad.
To me hers is quite bad, but I'm also sensitive to the fakeness or differences. ![]()

Oh yeah I forgot you got to flirt with him when you play as a female mage in Origins don't you, that's probably one of the reasons he got fairly popular, a possible romance that never lead anywhere, sort of like Harding, a possible romance that never leads anywhere. Damn you Bioware for constantly teasing everyone!
That and the whole crush he had on you being what the demons used against him. Angst woobie!
I care nothing for Krem, I always thought the part where you find out that he is actually a she pretending to be a he was just so random. She mentions something about binding breasts and the inquisitor and his know all super knowledge figures out that OMG he's really a she. I tend to just click the neutral option and forget that it even existed.
A few quests later and she'll be dead anyways. Qun Bull For Life.

it remind me of Tumblr . people over-like and over-drama some stufs just because they are different .
I will never understand the Harding hype. She has some nice one liners but that's it?
It's just the possibility she could be a love interest for the new PC.

Haha I can understand why there is a big fan base for him! That's why I like Harding because she's just as shy and awkward when you flir with her it's adorable, that's why I'm hoping she'll be romance able companion in DA4, I'd love for Bioware to flesh out her character a bit more, I mean they did a good job on Cullen, so now it's Hardings turn! ![]()

Hey now, I have no problem with him
I just meant that the characters I listed get just as little interaction/screen time as Krem but no one questions or complains about people liking them
It sadly often happens with characters that differ from the norm in regards to real life politics. In order to avoid being a ''token'' character, the person in question has to be more fleshed out than average.
I mean cripes, one of Bioware's most popular side characters in history is Sandal, who does nothing but stand around and say ''enchantment!''. You don't hear anyone say he's the token beardless dwarf or token mentally handicapped person, now do ya? Conrad Verner is popular despite being little more than a goofy fanboy. Everyone and their grandma clamors for a Harding romance option, yet she's not really a super deep character. So on and so forth.
Yet in regards to Krem, because he's not a main character, obviously he's a token transgender put in to satisfy them evil SJWs of evilness. Yet if he was a main character, the same people would very probably complain that he was shoved down their throat, like they did with Dorian.
Nevermind that people could like Krem because he's the face of the Chargers, has a popular voice actress, has a few nice dialogs with IB and, yes, is a transgender that is not played for laughs which is rare in the entertainment industry, never mind the video game medium. Na, screw all of this. Anyone who likes him obviously has an *scare chord* agenda.
For the record, I don't like Krem that much myself. But the reactions to him rub me the wrong way, as if people needed to justify liking his character just because he's transgender. People can like whatever character they please for any reason they want, anyone who says otherwise can take a hike if you ask me.
I definitely agree that Iron Bull's reaction to Krem is too extreme/forced/whatever but Krem's own dialogue and interaction is fine. I always cringe when bull starts his speech about how transgendered men are real men and the qun accepts their real manliness
Bull's speech might be awkward but I was just grateful that it explained how a Qunari could be confused that a mage could be a woman. He wasn't confused at her biology but that she acted like a woman.
snip awesomeness
Best post in this thread so far.
That evil agenda!
Maevaris was far better.
Nevahoidaem.

No. To not be a token character the quirk shouldn't be the *only* fleshed out thing about the character. Which is exactly the case with Krem. His gender is the only thing about him that is touched in any way.
Oh wait, he's a mercenary, sorry. So deep man, deeeeeep.
Sandal is liked because he killed an entire room of Darkspawn *somehow* while being a funny character. He and his ward are a comical relief. It's the same with Konrad, he's there to be funny. They are both so out of place that it becomes funny and endearing.
Cut the hyberbole. The only thing about Dorian that was shoved down anyones throat was the awful personal quest. For petes sake it didn't even make any SENSE. Yeah, let's use blood magic to possibly mess up his brain instead of just letting him have sex with men while still making children with the "proper" woman. I mean, it's not like the effin Romans that Tevinter is modeled after did that... oh wait! People had a problem with that because it was so crude and nonsensical.
EDIT: I mean, I applaud BW for making an effort to distance their characters from stereotypes, but that doesn't make them immune to criticism.

Yeah plus in DAI (I was iffy on him but by god he's the only sane man option for femPC) but yeah I look forward to Harding getting some love.
I don't get it either. It's not even like the Qunari are good allies they're backstabbing bastards.

In his dialogue following his personal quest and if prompted by an optional question, Dorian can reveal that this was what was expected of him and what he refused to do: "I wouldn't put on a show, marry the girl, keep everything unsavory private and locked away. Selfish, I suppose. Not to want to spend my entire life screaming on the inside."
'Cause different people like different types of characters. For example, a lot of people like Cole. I personally find him annoying, uninteresting, and in need of a burning in righteous fire.

That does not excuse the fact that his speech was cringeworthy and felt like a average tumblr post,

Dorian outright tells you that he refused to do that in the first place.

That private and locked away part is what makes no sense here. Nothing in Tevinter is private and locked away. It's exactly as Rome was, everyone knows who is ****** who it's just kept out of polite conversations. He's on a sure-fire track to the Magisterium, nobody *cares* so he has 0 reason to keep anything "hidden" or "in the closet".
They are injecting an American situation into something where it makes no sense in order to victimize Dorian and it's so blatant it's annoying to anyone who puts any thought into these things. Magisters are beyond reproach in Tevinter and their tastes mean nothing to anyone.
All he had to do was make someone pregnant, not build the goddamn nursery.
Minor character. I like him because he doesn't really have anything to dislike about him. Dude in armor that doesn't take ****.
Transgender dialogue tree was rather forced, but crap like this also needs to happen to break the transgender taboo in media. Plus the fact that you can nope out of the dialogue helped. I felt a little awkward first playthrough when I saw the "Why pass as a man" option. I noped the hell out. All the options seemed vaguely insulting and privacy invading.

The point is that Dorian refuses to live in a political marriage making mage babies with a woman he feels nothing for.

Did you not pay attention to the rest of his backstory? I learned a bunch about the working non-mage class in Tevinter. The pressure from his mother to marry in order to avoid slavery. The fact that his father had to sell himself into slavery because of a mage's actions. Also how the Tevinter army deals with deserters.
Again, it's not a tremendous amount of information, given his really small role in the story. But that stuff was interesting to learn. And it proves that gender is certainly not the "only fleshed out thing about his character".
Between this and the fact that you missed major context in Dorian's story.......
The point is that Dorian refuses to live in a political marriage making mage babies with a woman he feels nothing for.
And my point was that fixing *that* with brainwashing by bloodmagic is nonsensical and is an obvious statement about "pray away the gay" camps, shoehorned in.
Which, btw, I think should all the burned to the ground but that's not really relevant here.

Yeah, his gender is so much of a focus that you only can mention it in your 3rd or 4th conversation with him and it is pretty much never brought up again. That makes so much sense now that you mention it.
That does not excuse the fact that his speech was cringeworthy and felt like a average tumblr post,
You know it really did. That's why I pick the neutral options. You skip the PSA.

That's mostly not his backstory, but Tevinter in general and it tells absolutely NOTHING about him as a human being.
Where you're from and who your parents were isn't character development except in Animes.
