They are badass, but these guys are blind. The stone sense is stong in them. They must somehow sense where u are to shoot at you. Does lyrium allow dwarves to use earth magic?

After seeing those lyrium machine guns, for a moment there I thought my Inquisitor stepped into a rift and ended up in a parallel dimension, a crossover between Thedas and Mass Effect.

I wish my Inquisitor could talk to Segritt right after the Descent DLC and a new dialog would crop up in the wheel. It would go something like this:'Inquisitor! Already back? We've just received the schematics for a greatsword of the dragon. Give me the materials and I can have it ready in a mome-''F_ck that. I want a Sha-Britol machine gun.'Segritt stares at her in confused silence.'Pardon me, Your Worship. A what?'/hands over a Lyrium AK-47 schematic'Start working on it.'Dagna Greatly ApprovesImagine shooting Corypheus to death with that beauty. Most epic DA ending ever!
Corypheus: "A rogue? Ha! I have seen the throne of the gods. Warrior, you cannot pierce me with a mere knife-for I am the Ultimate Without Peer-"
Inquisitor: "I wasn't going to"
Party pulls out AK 47s
Corypheus: "-What?"
Inquisitor: "This is for Haven. Eat lyrium mother******!!"
Instantly shots Corypheaus, ending him like a mafia assassination.
Inquisitor: "Payback's A b*tch"

Hmmm.
AKs, say you?
You do realize that the AK47 is outdated as f*ck (and NO, don't even bother saying they're still being used. They're not quite existing anymore, and are rare to come across)
You're just another whiny little idiot who names guns and has very little to no clue about them, aren't you?

Not letting varric have a Lyrium-infused Bianca is one of the greatest missed opportunities in DAI.

You simply witnessed what will happen when Shaper Valta unlocks dwarven magic and the dwarves will rise to end all those pesky squabbles at the surface!
Hail the dwarven master race! Witness the tool of your destruction! The mighty lyrium AK! Praise be!

While I agree that Kalashnikov's rifle (even the 47 variant) certainly isn't "cutting edge" it is incredibly durable. (I'm sure many of us have seen units damaged but still functional. Granted it won't shoot sub-MOA anymore.)
And while it may not exist in great numbers in your area, it does not invalidate the argument that they are still a large presence throughout the world.
But what are we classifying as cutting edge?
Perhaps, Stoner's black rifle?
The AR, while modular, is not exactly cutting edge. In fact, many could argue its outdated as well, and they would be right.
We could further argue that a Remy 12g pump is old west tech. But that doesn't negate its usefulness in CQC.
However,
I still keep an AK around for a SHTF plan and bug-out bag. I still largely depend on my AR and a 12g pump, outdated or not.

I actually think the old 47 had a lot of issues.
The rifle to get the renown of the AK-47 was actually the AKM rifle, a modernized, slightly different version of the AK.
