i 2nd the chromatic greatsword. the description of its on hit ability does not do it near enough justice. it procs ALOT and the simple fact that added elemental damage is A-as much as your auto attack and B-can crit IMO blows away other on hit abilitys, before even thinking that you can still add ANOTHER on hit ability (hidden blades anybody?) it just does sooo much dps.

Chromatic greatswords special does random elemental damage equal to what ever damage you do. So if you dragon rage for 1k the sword will do a random 1k elemental damage which can be higher or lower depending on the enemies specific resistance.
This makes it the best 2 hander in game and its stats are not bad. prisimatic great axe would be second or the axe of the dragon hunter.

Wait, so if I hit 3K with dragon rage, it will also hit for 3K with, say, fire? free of charge?
Daaaajum.

yup, the element will be random but yes thats the gist of it. It is by far THE BEST weapon for a reaver.

Ace of the dragon hunter is the best because it's bugged
Same stats of chromatic but it allow pommel and haft too!

Not even by a long shot, even being bugged the chromatic greatsword thrashes the dragon hunter axe. If you have used both it would become easily obvious why chromatic absolutely surpasses dragon hunter.

Well crits matter as with the flow of battle passive you get your skills faster. Besides a lot of warrior abilities like crits since a warrior can sunder, weaken, reduce his cooldowns via crit. Now the thing is we need crits not so much crit damage as trying to get both on a warrior has a massive opportunity cost.
I personally prefer a crit chance of 45-55% basically the range i try to achieve and that i find is enough for my needs. Do no bother with critical damage on a warrior as the cost is too damn expensive to gear for. Get attack after you reach a decent crit rate (35-50) as that will serve you better.
Besides if you want more crit damage there is always the mighty offence tonic to give you 20 sec of 100% extra crit damage.

If I were to use a Templar, do crits matter or do I want to stack attack?
For 2H crits matter a lot because a cornerstone passive "flow of battle" reduces cooldowns. This makes you able to cast Wrath of Heaven and Spell Purge more consistently. Now there is a Templar ability 'blessed blades' that when upgraded will also help with this, but I have never liked filling up one of my 8 slots with a buff ability, especially when you can get around the cooldowns with high crit.
For 1H, crits don't matter as much. However, you can dip into the 2H tree and get flow of battle (which works with SnS just fine), but that requires a 2 point investment. Not something you'd consider at Skyhold but reasonable at higher levels (20+).
I should mention this also. One of the hang-ups many warrior-players have are some skills are stamina hogs (Wrath of Heaven and Devour I'm looking at you). Most players will pick up an upgraded Charging Bull and use the free-skill ability to give them cheap 10 stamina versions of the aforementioned expensive skills. Plus Charging Bull provides knock down, guard, damage, and mobility.
The following link will give you a pretty good idea of the best if not close-to-best weapons. It lacks Trespasser DLC (and the author has not responded to me so he may be done with the game).

I haven't seen many mention best 1H weapons, and I care not to do the research myself. But the link above states:
This was the hardest weapon to figure out, because one-handers are all over the place both in terms of their DPS and slot types (offense, defense, etc). The best one hander currently in the game is the newly-added Revered Defender Longsword (schematic). It can be found in the Ruins of Heidrun Thaig level of the Deep Roads.
However, if you don’t want to waste crafting materials and farm a new +5 guard-on-hit masterwork, there’s a nice alternative weapon – Valos Atredum, also found in the Deep Roads. This unique weapon actually has 2 more DPS and a built-in +5 guard masterwork, but is slightly weaker in the amount of stats available.
Next Best Thing: Mortalitasi Firm Club schematic, bought from the Black Emporium for 6078 gold.
Just note that this does not include Trespasser DLC items, schematics, nor 1.10 extras, trial rewards, etc.

well i like the look of chromatic lol......the major downside for me, at least on reaver is, when you dragon rage with it, the hilt goes to your back, but eh shimmery blade stays at your hand. xD

So can a Templar run cross build between offensive/defensive as a 2H? I'd like to feature combat roll AND charging bull if possible
Definitely
1 ) block and slash (defense, cc, damage)
2 ) mighty blow (damage & cc)
3 ) wrath of heaven (damage & cc)
4 ) spell purge (both offense & defense)
5 ) charging bull (does it all)
6 ) combat roll (mobility & damage)
7 ) pommel strike (damage & cc)
8 ) rally (defensive) or mark (damage & cc)

Compared to what? I suppose fortifying blast could be better. Depends on party build. Rally is pretty nice for giving guard to whole party along with super mana/stamina regen allowing everyone to burn their expensive skills. Pretty cool graphic too. I only included it because you said you wanted offense and defense. Is Rally worth running? I tend to favor skills that can be activated when I need them rather than waiting a long duration
You could switch it out for grappling chain, livid, fortifying blast, etc.

Yeah the author doesn't seem to have really, really tried to maximize one-handed weapon damage, and stuck with the basics. The point is, Mortalitasi is great but it's nothing really special.
One-handed weapons are superbly balanced overall. The #1 is the Cudgel of the Golden-Ebon Queen (unique mace), and there's no real competition. But it's Trespassers only.
The second spot is shared between Bitter Axe (unique axe), Hakkon's Honor (unique sword) and Revered Defender Longsword (crafted T4 sword)
Valos Atredum comes in fourth place because it's solid but serves no purpose. Apart from being a sword, which is huge since Swords are the only weapon type that can hit knocked down enemies, and 1h/shield relies on knockdowns a lot.
Mortalitasi comes at a distant fifth.

Nope horn of valor+fortifying blast is better any day.

I'm not exactly a fan of Fortifying Blast, but the above sentence is still true. The main problem I have with all focus abilities at the moment is that I run with the Trial that resets your focus every time you fast travel, and unlocking camp sites counts as fast travel. Which means Focus is mostly unusable outside of main quests.
So yeah, imho Fortifying Blast >>> Rally.
