Bioware needs to stop trying to appeal to the lowest common denominator or scrap these godawful romances all together.

And what is the problem? Reveals begin - you leave the forums (at least those with spoilers) and you still know nothing. However for people who DO want to know there is no other option as for developers to openly tell them. I'd say - reveal as much as possible and let spoilers aware people simply ignore uninteresting information.

I never said there is a problem. =)

I´ll go with the flow. Never checked before who was romanceable, I wanted it to be a surprise.

I actually liked the way they made Kaidan's story. His character was a well written and I alwasy "sensed" that he was a more bi sexual. I was happy to find out that Kaidan's facemodel was also a gay, must have been a nice surprise. He is also a gamer guy and I always wondered if he was happy to finally date Shepard.

Never meant any offense! Used your post more as a question itself, to have something to answer to :)

Myself - I like spoilers. At least this type of spoilers, which make me ready to meet all these characters. Though it gives only that - class or romance preference, nothing really "spoilery". Even wonderful presentation from VA did not really spoiled anything about DAI characters, for example, and so far neither pictures, nor anyhow detailed explanation from developers determined my final attitude to any character in any game. Quite often characters I was prepared to dislike (from pictures or descriptions) ended up as my favorite and vise versa.

I'm afraid MEA's squadmates will be market like DAI's. That is, like food on a menu so fans can choose who they will romance. I would rather like if that part of the characters wasn't even talked about.

Yeah I wouldn't mind if they don't reveal characters sexual orientation. Even letting us know who can be romance too. I want to found out myself if I do end up getting the game. In fact I kind of want them to troll players by slipping in a Trap just to screw with us. It'll be fun to watch some players rage.

I pretty much agree with you OP. No need for us to have knowledge of character's orientations before the game actually comes out. Sort of weird that we do to be honest.

I don't really care, it'll end up on the Internet eventually thus I can Google which companions that I'd be open to romancing.

I've already decided to try and f*** everything my first playthrough, so no, I don't think they should let us know beforehand.  I want it to be a surprise when the ship's custodian is like, "nah, I don't like dicks, but thanks for askin'."

People want lots of things.., doesn't mean it's right. Very rarely (if ever) it attributes ANYTHING to the game play or story, just another fetch quest.., with a difference. :)

What does right have to do with it? In fact how is 'right' defined here? If romance is not right (wrong), what is right?

Evidently people enjoy that difference enough to want it in their games.

Why not just choose your character's sexuality during character creation.

Straight: Men dont flirt with you and you get no option to flirt with them unless you change some sexuality setting

Gay: Women dont flirt with you and you get no option to flirt with them unless you change some sexuality setting

Bi: Both genders could flirt with you and you can flirt with them.

From what i understood most straight people didnt like being flirted by men OR accidently going gay because that makes them uncomfortable, especially when the option didnt cover the screen with a huge warning text telling them "THAT LEADS TO GAY SEX" and many people just chose either because they were too lazy to read the warning or just were confused about what it meant.

Also gay krogan love interest when :P ?

Ah, the gay toggle.  Not going to happen.  Bioware has stated numerous times that they aren't interested in shielding people from unwanted flirts.  You can flirt with and be flirted with anyone in the games inclined to do so regardless of gender .  If you don't want to flirt with someone, don't do it.  If you don't want to be flirted with, grin and bear it because it will happen.

I'd like to have them kept secret, if only to be caught of guard as I'm playing for the first time.

Well I do want more characters like Dorian that make you consider and wanna go out of your comfort zone but I also only want the guidebooks to reveal the romance options before the games release. I would prefer sexual orientations be revealed after people started playing their games and it be revealed by players themselves.

I want the romance in the game to be more than a one time thing once you kick it off maybe between missions thing once you pull the romance off  :D. Maybe have another thing like Skyhold for Mass Effect once you get there you can get your romance kicked off officially.

Part of me likes being able to find out for myself who is romancable and what their sexuality is, but it should be made clear from the first flirt if your intended isn't interested, so you don't waste your whole playthrough trying to get the affections of someone who'll never return them (has flashback to very first run of DA2 and my attempt to romance Aveline, gotta love the red heads).

A toggle to set your character's sexuality insofar that it also affects the behavior of other characters just doesn't seem like a good idea to implement. People who are uncomfortable with the possibility of a character of the same gender possibly showing romantic interest should just grow up and deal with it.

I prefer to play your way too. But I'm coming around to the idea that people who think preplanning is fun should be allowed to do that, and people like us should just avoid the character-specific marketing materials

Yeah, these. Especially if you're playing a character who's likely to get very few choices, if any (i.e. gay or lesbian), AND if you value romance in your game, if it's a big part of why you play, then it's helpful to those folks to know beforehand.

It's easy to say "I don't want to know" when going into the game pretty much every single romance you're interested in (with the exception of one gay or lesbian romance) is available to you.

I don't want a gay toggle but I wouldn't mind a magical girl transformation toggle so that I can switch into my Sailor Scout uniform on command.

YESSS and these "Afraid of teh gay" guys are so hypocritical; I mean I just played ME1 last night and out of nowhere Liara hits on me; Ashley's done it, too... it was so weird and made me uncomfortable. Gay toggle wouldn't have fixed that, would it?! :P
