Yes, I think it is a good idea, so those who think are very concerned can tick off all their little checkboxes, make their articles and forget about the game afterwards.

I think it's okay if they release that, it's still a fan's decision if they want to spoil themselves beforehand. I did it too with DAI, but I don't think it affected my first playthrough that much. I'm always torn if I wanna know about such things or not, but there are people out there who really plan according to who has which orientation etc. I don't do that for several reasons, but to each their own.

I usually start with a male character and see where this gets me going. Knowing who might be a fit for my male is nice and all, but if I don't actually like the character I most likely won't pursue them anyway.

I was pleased with DAI, Dorian just fell into my lap, I loved him right away and so I went for him :P

I try to ignore and not encounter the character promos since they feel too much like spoilers. The Character Orientations being put on display is a bit of a problem too since I'd rather not know much more than the basics when starting up.

I just hope all the companions are gay, we need more diversity in this game.

I prefer knowing already who are the romances in bioware games. Is the only spoiler I indulge myself (and after ME3 if there is the choice to have a positive ending for my character.) and is basically a necessity because I flirt only with the character I want to romance, but with BioWare "flirt now or never" if I flirt with the character who is not interested and I've already "lost the moment" with Others romances is basically a lost run for me.

Well, I checked who is romancable and I played female character anyway. It broke my heart because Dorian is what I needed. Too kawaii. :|

Yes because if everyone is X, it's therefore more diverse.

Well, I guess as long as there's no straight characters it's ok, straight people are boring and having them in the game enforces the oppression of minorities.

Muahaha, I'd so prefer that suggestion in real life. It would make my life so much easier.
'Hello, my name is... My sexual orientation, behaviour, go's and no go's are:... '
That would be so grand and safe a lot of efford.

Seriously, I don't want to know, I want to find out. It's a big part of the game to me. Rl and outside.

I really like the idea of 2 straight, 2 bi, 2 gay male and female....means everyone has 2 options. Perfect :)

Personally, I like to know because I plan my first characters well in advance to the game's release (including who I hope to romance). Just for extra fun, so it's useful  to know. I wouldn't mind if they didn't release it though.

 I can't even begin to understand how you reached that conclusion.

DA always had 2 romance options for straight guys. Straight women got one more in DA2, and two more in DAI.

By contrast, gay people one option in DAO, and two options ever since.

ME1 had 2 for straight guys and one for straight women. ME2 had three options each for straight people. Plus obviously the ME1 options carry over, even if there's little interaction with them. In ME3, if you include romances that carry over, straight males potentially had five romantic options, while straight women had two. Straight guys had the option of starting a new romance in ME3 with potentially 2 options. Straight women had potentially 1 option for new romance.

By contrast, gay women had one option until ME3, where a second option was introduced. Gay men had zero options until ME3, where they had potentially two.

As far as I'm aware, old Bioware games tended to have no more than 1-2 romance options for a straight player. So arguably, the choice has either improved or stayed the same. The only real difference is gay people gaining an equal number of LIs now.

As a general rule I don't like gaining significant information outside of the story itself. I'd go as far to say that outside of possibly setting history reading story details outside of the game is bad storytelling.

I think the issue here might be overcounting minorities cause people aren't used to see them that much in fiction. It's quite normal to see just one or two token characters, but when numbers are getting close to 50% it can feel weird if you aren't used to that. I think for this reason some have been complaining how DAI is full of female characters, they aren't simply used that came has many important female character. So maybe some people feel like ME is full of LGBT+ characters and LGBT+ romances for this reason also.

Either is fine. I can understand both sides of the argument, some people like to know beforehand so they can plan accordingly, others don't cause they prefer going into the game spoiler-free. Personally I don't mind spoilers.

OT but some of you are so easy to bait. You need to work on your troll-detecting skills.

I want spoiler free but game will be realest after year or more and I already know some spoiler. It's become impossible to hide.

Wouldn't that mean everyone has four options?

I agree. I understand everyone has personal preferences when it comes to spoilers before a game, but the sexual orientation being a highlight, or a crucial enough piece of information to be released before the game, seems very strange to me.

Yeah they will inevitably release spoiler-y info sooner or later. The only way to avoid all spoilers is to hide under a rock until the game is released. :P

Can't count Inquisition as multiple games, but I assume this pertains to male options only, because if you simply went by what was defined as "straight", there would still be more of them than there are for the others.

Straight male PC would have 2, straight female PC 2, lesbian PC 2 and gay PC 2. However bisexual PC would have 4 regardless of gender.

Sexual orientation is only crucial information, because of romances. It's not really needed knowledge from non-LI companions after all. I don't even remember if Bioware mentioned Vivienne's sexuality for example at all. Do we still know if she's straight or bi? No idea about Kasumi and Mordin either.
