The console and pc versions use a whole different type of code. Yes it's similar now to the pc, but it is still different.
The only game that is currently able to do that isn't even out yet and currently is only able to on the xbone and not the PS4.

That will never happen. They can't just take what the users made and sell it as their own.

As Fallout 4 is coming in November, they will be able to implement PC mods on the Xbone (currently) and PS4 (hopefully by release. They wouldn't be able to sell the mods, but you would install them... probably with a USB as I have for some 360 games.
I don't believe anyone said that BW would take and sell anything, those were your words.

Yes it is! But fear not! Game companies are slowly going to be implementing PC mods into current gen consoles if Fallout 4 works successfully!
So hopefully in a few years when DA4 comes out, it will be just like that!

Don't hold your breath. That would require EA/BioWare to release their base toolset, which isn't going to happen. DA4 modding will be pretty much what we have now, very limited. Got to give it to BethSoft, they have been supporting modding for a very, very long time and will continue to do so well into the future.

By the time that DA4 comes out, I'm hoping they will be usng an upgraded version of Frostbite that allows modding in general.
....or just scrap it and go for new stuff.... I think Cryengine is free now?

Can't they? They came close this past April.
As much as I'm looking forward to Fallout 4, I have a sinking suspicion that its release will see Bethesda (and Valve, and whomever) taking another really sneaky, awful stab at monetizing mods.
Offering them in a curated fashion on consoles is the first step in that direction, if you ask me. But we'll see.

Frostbyte was developed primarily to deter and combat hacking/modding in EAs Shooter games. The engine was made from the ground up to curb cheaters. Unfortunately, this also makes it very difficult to mod without the real tool set. EA doesn't consider the modding community an asset, but as competition.

Yeah, otherwise they can't sell overpriced shitty looking armors.

They had to use this mod unfriendly game engine. Would have been nice if they used something that you could mod with. Then DAI could have mods like Skyrim... lots of them.

It does have some beautiful lighting and water though! lol
I hope they make a whole new one..... and while they are at it, they need to do a KoTOR III with the new engine lol
