Well piercing mod + extended barrel + warp ammo does more damage against barriers, armor and health on any kit, and same gun setup with incendiary does even more damage vs armor. But it's true that the gain is not huge. I'll give the extended mag a try neverheless.

 

HVB + ext mag + Incendiary works OK on classes with DoT powers, but you're going to have to rely on your powers a lot more if you go this route.  For comparison sake, here's another n00b sub-25 solo I did with KroSol + Harrier/Scorpion w/ Incendiary.  You will see that it is a lot more tedious without AP IV + damage barrel.  Most notably, guardians take much longer to go down, and although you can still 1-clip atlas armor, you have to wait a few seconds for the DoT to kill it afterwards.  BBT Alert: Be advised, the music accompanying the solo is original and as heavy as a ten ton hammer.  You have been warned...

Am I the only one who feels the extended mag is completely useless ? I mean that the problem (if there's one) of the harrier is his overall capacity, he relaods too fast to care about he magazine size and the extended mag only gives you 16 rounds more in total. I feel that the extended barrel is much better.

 

Like others have said, it is mostly a DPS issue.  The higher the rate of fire and slower the reload of a particular weapon, the more you are penalized for not taking an extended mag.  Aside from DPS it offers extended suppression, which is helpful for keeping phantoms flipping and dragoons rolling.

The Harrier is a beast! The best AR in the game. A weapon of choice for any weapons class. Nuff said. BloodBeforeTears--very nice!

The harrier? Really bad UR. Give me the Eagle any time (Almost identical damage per shot, more ammo). Seriously sick of hearing how OMGBS the Harrier is, it's not, it is garbage above Bronze. It is one of the best mook killers in the game, and that's about it. It will take your ENTIRE RESERVE AMMO to kill one boss unit. You get ALMOST as much damage out of the entire reserve ammo of the Avenger. (18k vs 20k, vs gold+ armour).

 

EDIT: For comparison, Lancer is 10k/clip, Typhoon is about 50k for all reserve ammo, and Spitfire is 22k clip/100k for all reserve ammo)

I don't remember that, but many of the variables for the Harrier seemed to be directly copied from the Mattock.

The harrier is a "modified" mattock so it would make sense that they have the same characteristics

Harrier is a modified Avenger, it's deadly on full auto.

Ok, I've tried it again, used it in about half my games for the last few days, even on TGI. Nope, still don't like it. I do much better with the Lancer. Would rather take Lancer, Claymore, Black Widow, Eagle, or CSMG. (<---- Probably my picks for best in class). Sorry fanbois, I tried, as I tried every time I got a new level of it. It's just not fun, great for mook rushes, no argument there.

Yeah its definitely effective, its just not much fun to use.

Interesting video, never really seen anyone use the scope on the Harrier before.

It's not the best mod for it, but a different way to play it which is always a good thing.


Can't help but smile a bit over the arguments that the Harrier is a bad UR, 99,99% of all the people ever to play the game would rather claim it's OP and broken......

 

I would not be surprised if the player was only using the scope as a crutch and with time, eventually moved away from it. I used to use scopes on the Revenant, Saber, Carnifex/Paladin, even the Scorpion at the beginning stages of this game.

 

I recognize the Harrier is a very powerful weapon but it is also one of my least favorites too. To me, that gun is the poster child of an assault rifle and it feels very generic to use. One of my favorite weapons is the Scorpion just because of it's unique effect, synergy, and interesting gameplay that I can exploit with.

 

I only used that weapon on the Cerberus Vanguard and that's just fore 'lore' reasons.

When i make my vidoes i try to use several classes to better show how good a weapon is. There is one thing i believe to be more important than what classes you use it on and what powers you combine it with. What i am on about is how YOU feel when you get the weapon on your toon and start firing. I have seen players brag about weapons that i personally dont likie very much. So your own subjective experience has alot to say.

(PS: I understand if you like the feel of the Harrier, I personally like the feel of the Lancer, and when correctly modified, the Revenant, even if they aren't the most BS guns in the game).

The revenant is a bad ass gun, i dont feel its as accurate as the harrier though.

It really isn't accurate. Even under Marksman/HunterMode/DevastatorMode, it is serviceable with those, but the Harrier is still naturally more accurate.

Personally I love the Harrier. Yeah it feels a little corny to use on some kits (cough destroyer and ghost) but it does the job of murder death kill quite nicely.

 

I actually find it hilarious how BSN complains about this gun when it's a DPS machine given the number of threads and replies that talk about how DPS is king and the most important focus point for platinum and of strong consideration for gold; so am I missing something or did the devs essentially give us what we wanted here? Also is the gun or the association that gets the most ire? After all a harrier complaint tends to also have the words TGI, didn't help with the objectives and scorewhore mixed together in the same sentence.
