Not everyone can be sirian and have jay haxahax auto shoot spawns with a DX plugin on the other side of the map. Some people play with pugs.

The burst damage is great, the sustained damage is not so great.

Also it's simply boring in a game with stuff like Claymore, Scorpion and Kishok/Graal.

I won't argue with the last sentence. I mean, fun is subjective, so if you find other guns more fun then by all means, use the others.

Arguing from an optimization point of view though, you hardly need an aimbot to push the game timer down enough for the harrier spare ammo not to be a problem, especially with 6 thermals. Even with pugs. Talking gold here, though.

Yeah - but you're not factoring reload time in for extended DPS - though it's pretty quick to reload it does make a difference.

AP mod + Extended mag + Warp/Incendiary ammo is the way to go IMO.

I think you get the max out of the gun by using extended mag and barrel with AP IV ammo instead +75% dmg and more piercing. The fire rate is not that high on the Harrier so it dosen't benefit as much from Incindiary as say the PPR.

Might be theoretically that you get more out of a caster like the Justicar with piercing mod + Warp ammo as you can keep your targets constantly primed for the biotic dmg bonus, otherwise you only have +60% damage from Warp IV and less piercing.

Most kits have detonators though - whether that's Throw or Frag Grenades ... I may have a slight Fire Explosion addiction ;)

It is hard to argue with EM+EB+ AP4.  EB gives you a bonus to all hp layers, and AP ensures full damage double hits.

If I am not running AP or Drill on the Harrier, I am typically inclined to go Piercing + EB.

I never knew how unpopular this Harrier weapon was until I read some more replies to this topic...

It really isn't accurate. Even under Marksman/HunterMode/DevastatorMode, it is serviceable with those, but the Harrier is still naturally more accurate.

Out of those 3, Destroyer Devastator Mode is by far the best matchup for the Revenant. And by far the best kit for Revenant in the entire game. Number 1 reason the PS3 account started upsetting me for not wanting to drop the Destroyer.

I also never use it on Hunter Mode and Markman kits due to pathetic CombatWalkSpeeds. So the only other kits I like it on are tanky close quarter kits like Krogans, Batarians and JetPack Turians.

On Platinum, Harrier ammo capacity can be a liability, even with judicious use of Thermal Clip Packs

But it runs out of ammo almost as fast as the Harrier on Platinum, minus the windup & it's much more accurate.

You still only have 6 clips worth of rounds max. Better off with a maxed lancer.

I like to go back and forth between Lancer and Harrier.

Well especially because ammo boxes give less ammo on Plat, the Harrier is even more maddening on Plat than usual. Just use the Typhoon or PPR, or better yet, a shotgun.

When you can get the Harrier to work on Platinum, it's fine. Though last time I tried Harrier on Platinum, I was in the same boat as all you guys complaining about the Harrier on Platinum. Couldn't make the ammo last for the life of me.

And really, what's a bigger pain about Platinum Ammo boxes is having to hump it once, wait, and then hump it at least once more just to fill up. What was BioWare thinking?

Or use Saber. Saber is the assault rifle king. Doesn't require piercing to be effective vs armor, no spare ammo problems, no wind-up time, amazing sound. Saber.

But I only like the Saber with Hunter Mode and Devastator Mode. And Lancer/Harrier works on anything perfectly.

Well, while I agree with that, it has happened to me that I've found myself on Dagger Hazard and been awarded 6 rounds at a time from the ammo crates. I hardly ever use the Harrier, but if I do, I know to take a sidearm  :)

Only kit I take sidearms on is the Destroyer.

I find it one of the easiest weapons to get headshots with. Just burst fire it at the heads of mooks and you manage you're ammo and the recoil easily.

Wow, haven't posted in a while. But the Harrier, bad???

By any metric you want to gauge it, the Harrier is one of the most powerful weapons in the game. Considering the damage output, it is very light weight.

6 x TCP's certainly mitigate the lack of spare ammo.

Personally, when I'm moving around any map, I take specific lines to always hit ammo boxes at regular intervals. Because of this, I can't say I have had any real ammo problems with the Harrier, even on Platinum. The only set up that can occasionally make me chew thru TCP's is Dagger/Plat.

My movement patterns around the map can sometimes be affected by enemy units, but with the damage output a Harrier, that eventuality is avoided more often than not.

There isn't really anything to "get to work" or figure out, you just have to be ok with humping the crap out of ammo boxes.

It also depends on your aiming. If its poor you will end up wasting bullets!

I'm aware, that doesn't really ameliorate anything I said; as a side note I find it hilarious that people that get all *FRUMPLE* about the Reegar, Hurricane and Acolyte have warm and fuzzy feelings about the Harrier, it also pretty much has zero recoil on PC.

Warm and fuzzy?  Like I said it's a boring, easy weapon that I do not use very much any more but it's a damn good weapon. Hurricane, Harrier, and Reegar all should have been adjusted though during balance changes.

Now that I've fixed that for you, yes we can.

Two out of those three were adjusted, and the latter was never adjusted because it's an endgame weapon, and fits in the same category as Juggs, HammerBro, and Sexbot.

A rifle never touched by the devs. The rifle that some loved, some hated and some loved to hate it.

Hmm, you must play on some weird Wii version of ME3 or something, one that doesn't have the actually good assault rifles.

*cough*

Honestly, I've been slapping the lancer on as many kits as I have the harrier, and it kicks even more ass without the dryhumping of ammo boxes, or the semi-frequent reloading.

Yeah, while the Harrier is ridiculously awesome, it is kind of annoying on Platinum.  It does seem to run out of ammo quickly, and I hate running to ammo boxes all the time.  In fact, that's my biggest complaint with Platinum.  Yes, it's boss-spam, and yes, some of the mechanics get to be kind of BS (you often essentially have no health gate or shield gate if you're off host).  But all of that would be OK if ammo boxes gave you a little more ammo.  It's just annoying.  Also relevant:  I hate using thermal clip packs, because if I keep that one at 255, it means I get more Medigel and Ops packs from my Spectre Packs and Arsenal Packs.

Putting the Harrier on any good weapons class (my favorite is the Drell Adept) almost trivializes Gold.  And I only have the Harrier II (it's my lowest-ranked gun).  I can only imagine what it's like at X.
