I understand that there is a lot of useful information on this already, however I am looking for more advice on what some of the strongest early-game builds are if say all or most of the trials or custom challenges are turned on?  Perhaps even builds that don't involve using Tier 4 schematics via the Golden Nug right away? Thanks in advance!

I did it without golden nug but used tier 2 schems I could scrap gold to afford. Like old times when you govto val royale or be before doing champions and in heart shall burn. Did champions at lvl 4, heart at 5 ended in skyhold at 5,5 lvl.

2 mages, warrior tank, DPS rogue recommended.

One mage specing for support barrier dispel and a bit of damage.

Other mage for crowd control and some damage.

Focus on getting a good weapon for your rogue, good staffs for the mages and good armour for warrior those are essentials.

Cass had war cry with upgrade to taunt, shield wall and bash, grappling chain with stun upgrade. Payback strike is also good. Not sure you can go all out for fortifying blast from horn of valour and have enough points to taunt efficiently which she should be doing.

Solas got barrier and dispel and mana surge and winters grasp.

Sera had leaping shot with stealth upgrade , long shot for shatter combos and full draw.

Quizzy had flashfire and winters grasp for cc, barrier and mana surge. Maybe it would have been wiser to go all in on firewall. But the 1000% damage upgrade on WG with so many frozen things is great.

Mage incarnation envy was a ****** cause elemental damage made Cass cry _ she us great vs physical damage but not magical. Sera and her stealth was a saver in that fight.

Haven was basically run, divide, and conquer . staying near trebuchet is a bad idea.

You need both freeze and panic to crowd control effectively. And dispel to deal with enemy mages. Grapling chain stun lock them and constantly cc them with freeze or panic. Apply dispel when necessary.

You get decent rewards from trials that you can get cash to afford the essential tier 2 schematics. If you r hardcore try it with tier 1 but good luck in that.

On my nm ff all trials run i used a little different setup but did not use any schematics above t1. I ran cass sns with multi grappling chain and taunt upgrade on payback strike, double rogue (dw going elusive upgraded poison cloud) and a mage with cooldown upgraded barrier and manasurge. I always stacked my party, grappling ranged opponents and camping my poison cloud, keeping up barrier on all partymembers. Bleeding caltrops and antivan fire for aoe dmg and bees for ranged cc i couldnt pull in. Camped the trebuchet, clear 1 wave, adjust trebuchet. Rinse and repeat. Was actually easier than my former playthroughs. Once i got cole (3 sec stealth, stealth on flanking strike, 100% crit in stealth) as well as artificier for my poison cloud inquisitor it just became a walk in the park.
