Will there be an option to upgrade to the Game of the Year Edition for existing players? PC version specifically. Or do we have to buy the whole game a second time if we don't want to buy each DLC individually?
An upgrade option would be a really nice move from Bioware. It would certainly convince me to return to the game. ![]()

Yeah. And I appeal that the owner of Inquisitor's Edition should get the GotY Edition FREE! ![]()

I would definitely consider getting that upgrade since I don't have any of the DLC content. Buying the game again is a waste of money I think, especially for people who like me got the Deluxe Edition or other special editions. Come on BW make it happen ![]()
EDIT: They did something similar for the Deluxe Edition, an upgrade for those who had the Standard Edition, so there's some hope.

Same here. I might consider upgrading if the price is reasonable enough.

I guess it depends on the price of the GOTY version, I can see them charging the difference. As long as the price of the upgrade is less then the sum of all the DLC I would say it's reasonable.

I have the three main DLCs but not the Spoils or Deluxe. The cosmetic stuff isn't that interesting to me but the completionist in me is upset. I wish Bioware did a Seasons Pass in advance of release rather than a GOTY edition after.

If they did that then people would be complaining about them making a season pass and paying for content that hasn't even been made yet.

I believe the original list price for DAO ultimate in 2012 was over $50, so I do not expect it to be worthwhile to upgrade.
However, perhaps EA/Bioware will take into account that Witcher 3 is currently available at Amazon for $40, but I will not hold my breath.
For it to be somewhat worthwhile for last-gen customers to upgrade, I believe the GOTY edition would need to be $50 or less (assuming $20 for DAI bought used plus $35 for net-gen exclusive DLC).
For me as a PC player, the GOTY edition would need to be less than $40 rather than me buying the remaining DLC (I only bought Jaws so far).

I also bought the hardcover strategy guide, but I don't really count that as a cost for the game itself.

Origin are giving Red Alert 2 away at the moment, before the the release of Inquisition they gave Origins away free, so in a few years time...

Nope, I just saw this:
@Rival_Rose The GOTY edition is $59.99 USD. We will have country specific pricing soon. Please keep checking our channels for updates.
Unfortunately, I called it correctly. The most loyal DAI customers will not benefit by purchasing the DAI GOTY Edition.
Existing DAI customers will only benefit if they originally bought the "non-deluxe version" and did not purchase any DLC.

It would be unfortunate to have spent $125 for the same content people who didn't care enough about the game to have bought it already will get at $60.

Well, hopefully they discount the DLC at least since they still have control over how they price the separate dlcs.

Indeed. I bought the game during a sale in E3 for half the price, the deluxe edition for 35€. If I bought all the dlc right now I would spend 55€. I mean is almost double.
Is unfair how the fans who support this game and show interest in their products always get the stick. Hopefully the dlcs will drop their price, JoH had a sale no too long ago maybe the others will follow.

Well buying a game twice is not really benefitial except for BW ![]()

Price will probably come down over the usual sale periods. Christmas etc.
Give it a couple of months.

I bought the IQ edition for PC, and all the DLC's separately. This is kind of a slap in the face but expected. I love DA and Bioware so I don't really regret my purchase.

I don't understand why some folk are expecting upgrades or feel this GOTY is a 'slap in the face'.
This is how game sales work.
You want to play the game at launch? You pay full ticket price.
Happy to wait? The price will likely discount over time.
Happy to wait even longer? There will be a GOTY and its price is likely to drop in time too.
We all have choices, subject to disposable income.
The commercial rationale to help out the 'loyal fans' who didn't buy the DLC packs already is, er, well there isn't one.

Games are usually more expensive on the launch and then the price keep dropping so in that sense this was expected.
I usually buy editions like Game of Year cheap from steam or somewhere else ^^; I bought Skyrim like that on my PC, got 3 DLC's and base game for 15 euros when even 1 DLC on PS3 is over than that still. In that sense video game pricing really makes no sense, you can get games ridiculously cheap at times if you are willing to wait or if you don't you have to play full price on everything.

Probably because there is also a Deluxe Edition upgrade, something which was never done for a Bioware game before either (at least I think so).I don't understand why some folk are expecting upgrades [...]

I normally wait for GOTY editions for all games...but I was way to hyped for DA:I, so I pre-ordered.
I regret nothing.

I would argue that a basic game -> GOTY upgrade would be a delayed price reduction, exactly like you described, but for the DLC rather than the basic game.
The situation I find myself in (and presumably others do as well) is that I found the original price to be reasonable, and bought the game at launch, but I feel the DLC is majorly overpriced. If the DLC would have its base price reduced over time--as has happened to the basic game--that would be great, and I'd simply wait to buy it. I don't expect that to happen, though; for some reason DLCs seem to be exempt from declining prices. That just leaves the possibility of sales. The fact that Jaws has already been on sale is encouraging, but that leaves two problems:
1) I don't know when any sales will be.
2) Whenever they might happen, any sales won't last long. They would probably be a weekend, or a week at the most.
Any opportunities would be easily missable. That's why I would like a GOTY upgrade option to be available: it would offer the same opportunity, but reliably. I suppose that it might sound like I'm saying that things should be on sale all the time, but I think there are mitigating factors: that such an upgrade wouldn't be available until well after everything has already been released, and that it would involve buying everything extra at once (i.e. it's a bundle price).

I correctly recalled DAO Ultimate was released shortly before DA2, but forgot that DAO Ultimate was released less than a year after DAO was originally released. I also forgot that Witch Hunt was released less than month before DAO Ultimate was originally released.
So, the release of DAI GOTY less than one year later after DAI was originally released should not have surprised me.
I suppose I was shocked at the seemingly sudden announcement of DAI GOTY, because the 1st DAI DLC (Jaws of Hakkon) was released on all systems on May 26th (less than 4 months ago).

I think the issue is for people who have the base game or only some of the DLC. If all the DLC costs $55, then it seems the collectors edition of the base game is now priced at $5 for the game of the year. This obviously isn't the case, which means that the value of individual DLCs has to have been reduced for them to all sell at $60 with the collectors edition.
I know that the point is to attract buyers who otherwise would not have purchased anything at all, but they should do so Without alienating actual fans as well. Of course, this still wouldn't help those who already bought everything.

Honestly not sure why people are getting all ecited about no upgrade offer as, to my knowledge, no Triple AAA company has ever given an upgrade option for GOTY. Fallout never got one, Skyrim etc never got one.
