Hi I don't know if there's threads about this already but I'm not sure how to make use of the skill:

Aegis of the rift from Jaw of Hakkon dlc.

Deflecting ranged attacks seem nice but a CD of 60s is just too long... And I'm not sure what situations might it be useful given there is often easier alternative solutions to counter ranged attacks.

And is there any new skills from Descent and Trespasser for the quisi? I haven't found nor seen any post on it but if there is one from hakkon, there might be new skills for the other 2 dlcs also.

Trespasser adds a new mark related power, but its bound to your summon mount slot and acts differently.

Aeigis is worth it if you don't move that much with your mage and have Winters stillness and cooldown reduction from amulet. Passives like gathering storm and clean burn help too. It's usually a question of mobility so fade step vs aegis. Aegis can protect you from dot projectiles like poison arrows which is great. Fade step gives more damage and flexibility especially with something like enhanced winter pact belt.

Archers in Jaws of Hakkon and Descent are quite a bit stronger than in the main game, so that's where you'll find Aegis of the Rift the most useful.

Aegis also blocks some magical attacks (like spirit and ice bolts from wraiths and despair demons), including the grip attack of one of the bosses in Jaws. (I never tested to see if it blocked giant rocks; that would be so awesome.)

Since it has no mana or focus cost, it's something you can freely deploy anytime there are a lot of archers trying to shoot at you (you just have to be a bit strategic given its static positioning and the long cooldown).

For a warrior, especially a solo warrior, aegis is very useful when facing the following:

bunch of wraiths and ice shooting demons

machine gun shooter in Descent

arcane horror / emissary

archer and mage in JOH

plus the counting attack form the aegis can trigger flow of battle, so you can even use it to reduce cooldown.

I still remember to use aegis to counter the multiple bolts from alpha emissary with my champion. keep TTD engaged, raise aegis, wait for the bolts wave and see it turns out a hundred of 1000+ damage counter attacks = so satisfied.

^^^ You forgot Poisoned arrows from zombies and poison spit from spiders.

Overall a very nice skill to have and use, but far from mandatory, as there are always more efficient and reliable counters to attacks that Aegis works well against. I rank it in the "if all else fails, I can always try that" category when I solo.

For instance, Sha-brytol bolters are passively hard-countered by either:

- +10% mastercraft armor

- +30% armor horn of valor buff

- +100% armor warcry buff

I loved that skill in jakkon and descent (trespasser a little less, but still useful situationally).

It has no cost, and being a reaver inquisitor means most archers tends to focus on me. Also, having a good crit build means that critical hits with warriors reduce the cooldown times. Boom-> continuous aegis of the rift.

Personally was not a fan of the skill atleast when i played a reaver. Aegis is extremely good for ranged characters but i found as a melee it effectively neutered me since i was stuck in a place.

See a group of enemies in the distance. Run up until they notice you. Drop aegis over your squirshy ranged companions. Charge forward.

It actually made me feel as if I was contributing to the team for once :P And I put it in combat roll's stead. I never used that anyway.

My strategy was bull rush and war horn the group. Terror is my contribution and with the new toggle i use combat roll for damage, extremely good damage.

Aegis is very useful for protecting your party. It's overlooked because even with the reflection upgrade, it doesn't do as much damage as Focus abilities. Simply drop it and order all ranged characters inside the bubble and they should be fine.

It's useful for a non-mobile Warrior, too. Some pesky enemies can't be pulled by Chains and it can be annoying to get pelted by beams of ice & spirit damage while you taunt and chase them down. Aegis will save your life more often than you'd think.

As a player who's party set up is always melee -- Aegis of the Fade was amazing, especially when I was carrying a Chains for Days Cass, and Solas. Since it eats enemy projectiles fired inside of it as well as outside, it created a very nice arrow free zone where I can burn down my Trash Pile before sweeping up the rest. I'd even carry it solo, and do when I do play solo on my Knight Enchanter. I also remember it having some unspoken function as well in conjunction with Rifts -- but I'd closed every rift in the main game by the time I'd gotten it so I never got to find out.

Now, if it reflected the projectiles entirely? This would be amazing.
