Before DA:I's release, yes. After, no. Because so much of the lore is revealed in DA:I through codex entries, which I cannot be arsed to read through, I no longer think of myself as knowledgeable of this universe.

I'm really only an expert if you want someone to recite the DC origin word-for-word. Strangely, most people don't take me up on it. >____>

I just had eye surgery and then started being able to read the codices(sp?), so i'm reading all the lore based ones now

Putting those eyes to good use, eh?  Well, good luck to you. I found them all long and mostly boring, so I stopped reading them altogether very early in the game.
