After playing through Bioware's Dragon Age series I have to say the thing that surprised me most was... Commander Cullen. See that dorky templar mook ascended from a minor character in "Dragon Age: Origins" to a relatively important character in "Dragon Age: 2" and finally a member of the main cast in "Dragon Age: Inquisition" with a full romance to boot.

His ascension involved both retconning the story (he went axe-crazy and ran off into the hills in my DA:O yet returned in DA:2 somehow) and no small amount of admiration from his legion of fans.

Now to the point of this thread, if YOU could ascend a minor character from the Mass Effect Trilogy to the main cast of "Mass Effect: Andromeda" who would he/she/it be??? In my own opinion...

  • Okeer's "imperfect" monotone tank bred Krogan from Korlus. You know? The one who did the heavy lifting for us? Maybe his "imperfection" caused him to grow a horn or something...
  • Maeko Matsuo the ERCS Captain on Noveria? If you speak with her after a few events on Noveria she actually reveals a decent amount of personality and a bit of backstory.
  • Parasini the Internal Investigation's Officer got a good amount of personality and backstory. She even kisses a Male Shepard if you help her in ME1-ME2 however she can die offscreen in ME1. Retcon anyone?

I like the "imperfect krogan" suggestion. I found him quite endearing.

Another (probably too-obvious candidate) is the Asari that the Thorian in ME1 used to create clones. I forget her name, but when she showed up in Mass Effect 2, her skin had turned green, which makes her an aesthetically interesting party member, if not much else.

Yeah, I'd actually pick that krogan guy over Grunt (stay back Grunt fans, I've got hostage fish). Yet the chance for that you're asking is practically zero, they all lack "fangirl horde" phenomenon.

Shiala. Was forgotten by devs at the moment of ME3.

Shiala (edit: ninja'd :P)

I liked her as well, just as Gianna Parasini. It's too bad they can both die, but you never know.
My favorite minor character must be Kal'Reegar. I hated the way he got killed off-screen in me3.

Maeko Matsuo the ERCS Captain on Noveria? If you speak with her after a few events on Noveria she actually reveals a decent amount of personality and a bit of backstory.

She would be one of my top choices. We know she is skilled since she has served a decade as a marine and then the head of a paramilitary organization hired as security, a lot of people like her, and she cannot be killed in the Shepard Trilogy so is alive in every worldstate.

Her name is Shiala. I would definitely choose her as well, but she can be dead.

Conrad Verner

Gianna Parasini

the guy walking around the Normandy in ME3 saluting when activated

Bailey

Kirrahe

Captain Riley

Wreav

Primarch Victus

all the above could be dead. I would imagine Bailey would be dead on the Citadel if low ems(below 1750) destroy was chosen

None- I don't want any of the original ME cast to return for MEA.

I would, however, appreciate watching a minor character introduced in MEA grow and develop into a more significant character over the next few games.

Vasir would have been my pick except for the small fact that she is likely dead.  Would need a retcon of some sort I guess.  I might have very well picked her if there was a choice in LOTSB.

Shiala is potentially dead but may have worked otherwise.

"Well spoken Krogan" on Illium would probably come off more as satire, but would be amusing.

I don't disagree with Parisini or possibly even Matsuo, but if sequels are going to take place many years after ME3, human NPCs like them would probably be dead.

CORPORAL RICHARD L. JENKINS

He was a hero, he died so that Shepard could live, without him Eden Prime would've been destroyed and the galaxy harvested by the Reapers. He is a true hero everyone in the galaxy owes him.

Unless the trip involves using stasis pods, in which case centuries can pass but for those aboard it's like taking a nap.

I can see it now. . .:

----

Clone Krogan: "I am not perfect."
Player: ". . .But you're perfect for me."
*Pause*
Clone Krogan: ". . .[PLAYER NAME]." *teary eyed*
Player: ". . .[KROGAN NAME]." *soft smile. Tears optional.*

*They embrace as the scene fades to black*

EDIT: Oh shoot, this wasn't a romance thread! Woe is me, how did I not notice!

I agree with your choices. I loved Matsuo's usage of honorifics (Parasini-san, Benezia-sama), and I was disappointed when the imperfect Krogan didn't join us. Gianna was also quite likeable. Another character I'd like to see is Bailey, for some reason I expected him to be one of those annoying unreasonable cops but I was pleasantly surprised.

Depends on how many years/decades/centuries into the future, most would not be possible in extreme future. The more distant along the timelines the less likelyhood of probability.

Possibilities:

Daughter or Grand Daughter of Liara (can work whether or not Liara was Shep's LI).

Child/Grandchild of Wrex (male or female: named Mordin if female)

I also like Shiala, perhaps a descendant of her (I wish Shiala had been explored more in ME 3) and could introduce more interesting variants of biotic/symbiotic powers as well.

On the other hand, I am actually more inclined towards seeing a clean slate in a distant future of all new characters and races of beings among the stars.

Left out Wrex in the 2nd idea above

I wish we were able to romance Shiala or have her as a squadmate she is definitely one of the more interesting characters.

Shiala would be a good choice if she couldn't be potentially killed in Mass Effect 1.

I need to run into at least 3 Krogan named Mordin and a dozen named Shepard does that count?

If not Aethyta, if she can give her daughter a team of asari commandos as a gift I want her on my side.

That or officer Dara, the asari who was supposed to arrest Samara. I feel she'd make a great level headed companion
