I really liked that character - in fact, I was sort of shipping him with Tali for awhile.

Receiving that message about his fate in ME3 was a bummer.

I'm hoping if the Ark theory is true he will turn up because it was just a cover for his disappearance, and yeah he and Tali should've been together with him always calling her 'mam'.

Damn it guys, stop derailing the thread by arguing about salarians, turians and krogan this thread is to appreciate quarians.

Here is my favourite Quarian Kal'Reegar he never gave in when it counted the most ensuring Tali's safety and the mission's success on Haestrom and again on Palaven during the Reaper War. Also being voiced by Adam Baldwin is a plus too.

Exactly.

Just ignore em, whether figuratively or quite literally via the ignore feature.

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnd.... QUARIANS!

Do you think we'll finally get to see Quarians unmasked in Andromeda? I hope so the volus too.

Possibly. We've seen them unmasked in the Synthesis Epilogue.

Or if you romance Tali:

The Volus may be less likely, unless we find a world that they can live on without their pressure suits.

I hope so. And that there is a little more work on their design than that of the photoshopped photo. Tali was like a bad joke.

I might be in the minority here but I like how the quarians look under the mask, as shown by Tali's photo and the quarian female from the green ending. I don't like how they just photoshopped an image for Tali but that doesn't change how I feel about the species appearance.

I do hope the quarians (and geth) return for the next game, and I hope they still wear the suites. Tali did mention that quarians would still wear the suites even if they didn't need them. I like the suits.

I hope they unmask the Quarians as well. I've been hoping that since forever. As for the photoshopped image that was used in the Tali romance, I can't say I was too bothered by it. It at least gave some good insight of how Bioware may intend to go with the appearance of Quarians. I guess it can seem they didn't care, but why should they go the extra mile just for a short scene such as that? I'm sure they'll put a lot more time and effort into the real thing.  :P

I think it's that they didn't want to do too much because it had been built up by fans so much they didn't want to upset anyone. But it will feel like a cop out if we don't get unmasked Quarians in the Andromeda. Still hoping for Volus too, I want to see Biotic God in all his divinity :D

Bottom line;
Both were wrong.
And,
The Salarians did NOT "clean-up" their mess,
The council did-big difference.
And genetically neutering an entire species isn't "fixing" anything. It's a morally reprehensible action to cover up a mistake, but it didn't solve a damn thing.
But to say it "fixes" anything is laughable when you look at the Krogans attitude towards turians and Salarians. "Kill all turians/Salarians!"
Quite frankly, they're justified for that mentality.

Had the quarians had the council in their " back pocket" as the Salarians did, sure they could've "fixed" the geth problem.
By wiping out the entire geth population, and that's typical council behavior. "Fix"? I think not.

Quarians paid/learned from their mistake when you look at their suffering.
The Salarians have NOT and will repeat the same atrocity. In fact, they were in the process of repeating their same, exact mistake in ME3.
Neither is right and both are wrong,
but one has learned/paid for their mistakes and the other has not.

But back on topic;
I looked for the image and couldn't find it, but I think BW did a rendering of a female Quarian without and mask (not sure if you know which one I'm referring to?)
But I REALLY hope if we have some quarians in MEA that they go back to that rendering or very similar to it.

A Quarian thread and QMR hasn't posted in it? I'm disappointed.

The only thing I like about the Quarians is they gave rise to my second favorite race, Geth. So I thank the suit rats for that.

I'd like the Quarian to be like Tali's photo. Maybe not with long flowing hair? I was both expecting hair to be human-centric (so no other races have to suffer from BioWare obscene hair) or to be short or braided?

What I found depressing was that it was a photoshopped photo. Not even a real portrait. There wasn't even some study on Tali's face, she was an afterthought if there was one.

I really hope the team this time will cure a little more the Quarian and give them a real face.

Their suits(Tali's one especially) remind me lot of Indian Sarees, that are extremely beautiful in my opinion.

Now as for how quarians turned out to look like( like some sort of human/turian hybrid lmao) it is very disappointing and it is perhaps hopeless case but I'm still crossing my fingers that they will make quarian seem more exotic and alien and not bad photoshop case.

Ripping off a stock photo is bad form, but after all is said and done, I like how the faces are more human-like but the lower half of the body is not. They're like space mermaids.

Well, I think they nailed the long flowing hair if you look at the fabric at the back of Tali's head (hood) for example, you'll notice a baggy section that looks exactly like it would if they had long flowing hair bundled into that fabric.
I'm hoping for a little more...uniqueness out of the Quarian appearance.
If you look at the turians, drell, Salarians and on and on they all have a unique appearance. And so should the quarians IMO.

I think they should work forward from it. Use it as a starting point. Tweak it here and there, until there is balance. As it is now, making the Quarian too alien would make incongruent the setting (even in one of the books if I remember correctly) the Quarian are described similar to humans.

But I can't say it wasn't a delusion the poor photoshopped portrait.

Human looking part is not much of a problem(all aliens in ME have some human looking trait) problem is that by what we have been showed they look too much like humans and we don't need asari 2 case(though considering how asari don't look as they seem.....actually they are most alien and mysterious looking in here).

Anyway back to quarians I still hope BW will make this design as canon instead:

tali.jpg

It still has human traits but this design is also more exotic and alien then the one BW gave us

That right there is what I'm talking about.
Make a few subtle tweaks, reduce the size of the ears, "glow" the eyes, among other small details, and I could go for that.

Yes, one of the books has the main character looking at a dead Quarian and notes how similar they look to us, the only real difference being the ears.
