When you're in Haven this comes up in one of the conversations you have with Solas:

Solas: Closing the Breach is our primary goal, but I hope we might also discover what was used to create it. Any artifact of such power is dangerous. The destruction of the Conclave proves that much.

Inquisitor: You don't think whatever created the explosion was destroyed in the blast?

Solas: You survived, did you not? The artifact that created the Breach is unlike anything seen in this age. I will not believe it destroyed until I see the shattered fragments with my own eyes. Anything with that kind of power is bound to show up sooner or later.

He basically tells you that the Breach was created by something rather than someone, despite having no evidence to  suggest anything to the contrary....and is quite adamant that it exists. Took me a few playthroughs to notice that the Inquisitor technically has no idea about what happened or that an artifact was involved when the conversation is brought up since they haven't 'met' Corypheus yet... and the only memories you have are about sacrificing the Divine which would imply blood magic to the average observer.

I mean, in Thedas, it's mentioned many times that areas that see large death tolls become more susceptible to the Fade and sprits, so it's not exactly a stretch to believe that if everyone at the Conclave was sacrificed in a crazy blood ritual that it could cause a tear in the Veil.. but Solas doesn't bring that up.

Honestly I didnt notice lol   Once you beat the game the first time you understand what he is talking about but if its your first time threw you may miss that he really is telling you something here. He played us all good, not in an evil way, just saying he hid his hand well  . ..... he should have been at the Wicked Grace game with everyone else, he would have killed us all (card game wise)  :P

Interesting! So, either Solas slips up here and there, divulging information he shouldn't, yet is fortunate enough not to be "caught" when doing so, or it's a case of bad careless/absentminded writing.

Worth asking Weekes, I suppose, as he's the one who wrote Solas. Not saying I'll do it, but someone else always could, as I don't care to interact with Bioware employees, myself. :P

Solas slips up a few times. He does it when he reveals Skyhold to you, and he does it when he talks about the Veil and a world without it.

I don't think the world without the Veil is really a slip up given that he does mention dreaming about history, and talking to spirits. It's not really a stretch for them to tell him about what the world was like before then.... despite us now knowing he witnessed it.

I actually did, and that's just one of the things that made me suspect he knew exactly what was going on from the start. He also knows exactly what it is, that it's elven, what it does and what it was used for after seeing Corypuss have it.

I mostly noticed that he was standing in the snow without any shoes on.

I also noticed that after playing Trespasser I yell obscenities at the screen during that scene a lot more often now. I'm sure that's unrelated.

I believe that's one of the only times he disapproves of you asking questions.

It seems to me like this and a few other convos are intentional, to give the player hints about Solas's true nature so as to prevent the post credits scene from coming out of nowhere.

Seriously?! He disapproves?! Damn. Im going to have to start a new playthrough(again!).

Regarding the foci though, I think Dorian mentioned it as well since they're in/were in Tevinter.... And given that half of Tevinter things are elven, its not really surprising.

He's talking about a world - as far as we know - that can't and never existed. How could he know of a world without the Veil? It's a slip.

^^

(can't quote on crappy phone)

I think the general belief is that the Veil was created by the Maker so that implies there was a time before the Veil...

I noticed the way he walked up to the torch. You should pay attention to it. Especially if you look at how females walk in the cutscenes.

...anything the chantry doesn't seem to like in history, they go and wipe it from the record, or destroy it.

You Noobs XD I Noticed it xD However I thought its just the silly way authors decided to give players grounding so its easier for them to catch up on everything. I realised the second he walked up to the orb It struck me that he had some hidden goal in all this xD Like Varric said its allways the quiet ones XD Also I didnt really hang out with Solas much since he was borring :P Another part of the great deception set by devs xD

He does slip up alot(expecialy if ur an elf) and its actualy interesting to hear on the second playthrough.

The moment I heard this I knew the artifact had to be his.
After he revealed it to be a Foci I suspected him even more.
When he said neither City or Dalish elves were his people, I suspected he was the guy that killed Felassan.
After the reveal of the ancient elves at the Temple of Mythal and how he treated Abelas, I knew he was a Ancient Elf.
But I would never have guessed he was the Dread Wolf.

Cass quizzes him quite a bit as well if you have her and Solas in your party frequently. You can tell she thinks it's a little too convenient that he was there to help out and give all this expert advice.

Not everyone, but how that Random guy knew too? How he knew it was a artifact that opened the Breach? I didnt think he gave the Foci to Corypheus on purpose, but he was very suspect and he almost mimicked everything Felassan said.
