Shale can be killed if you go against Carridan, or not picked up at all if you skirt the village of Honneleath. Still, if Leliana can pull a rez from nowhere then surely a golem can sustain far worse injuries and get up after a battle. And if the Warden never meets up with Shale, there is still the chance she could have awoken on her own or with the aid of another. So yes, Shale is definitely a possibility.

That was my reaction I loved her, slightly patronizing ways aside. But even on playthroughs that she lives she dies giving her Spirit to the Templar chick her son and Cole like.

Kinda tough. I wouldn't want most of them back without playing the protagonist they traveled with. I'm not really keen on getting another "borrowed" companion like Varric was.

No question, I don't care if she can die (can she?) she needs to be brought back. See her become a dwarf again and make her more awesome then ever before (is such a thing possible?).

If I can only choose one it would be Lace Harding, definitely... and hopefully from start to finish with nothing bad happening to her. Would make most sense also cause she would probably be the one digging up the next protagonist if the Inquisitor is involved... Her and Leliana, but I doubt she will be back cause writing her in with those endings would make a huge mess.

Also who-ever was left in the fade would be nice, but seems like a very unrealistic since it could be Hawke - I don't see them giving us the chance to create 3 characters in the game, and besides the new protagonists if it's going to be someone it's going to be the Inquisitor.

I want a Vengence Anders again! They could have easilly fleshed out his character!

Think about it, he's going to Tevinter to see if someone can unbound them.... makes sense to me.

One problem with Anders coming back is that he could be dead... I don't want another case of Leliana (even though she lived in my canon world state)

 

I think they should keep it as simple as possible when it comes to recurring characters so they don't have to come up with weak explanations on how someone is back from the dead.

I don't like returning squad mates at all when there is a new protagonist. The player has a history with Varric for example but the protagonist doesn't and it just doesn't make sense imo.

 

I really enjoy the franchise continuity that is maintained by having someone familiar roll over into each successive chapter of Dragon Age, but I also happen to agree with your assessment about Varric's inclusion in DA:I (even though I do like him as a character).

 

We would have been much better off had Bioware chosen to cast Charade Amell in this role, and as Hawke's cousin the same connection for her to introduce him/her to the Inquisitor would still have made sense. Charade was a rogue, and like Stroud as Warden companion gave us someone familiar, but somewhat new also. Pity! I rather liked Charade's late game appearance in DA2.

 

That being the case, I nominate Charade Amell for inclusion in DA4!!

Abelas would make an awesome companion as he could be our mouthpiece for ancient elven lore. Since he was around during Solas' rebellion, he might also be able to give us tactical guidance. I know he could be stabbed by Morrigan but people survive stab wounds all the time. He was also a servant of Mythal and it's very possible that he has a piece of himself stored somewhere else. Would love to see him again. If not him, then I'd love to have at least one ancient elf on the team.

Cole~ Though I kind of understand how that would mean writing a bunch of stuff for him considering his... condition/s.

 

Another would be Fenris, as some sort of side-ally like the advisors or Morrigan. Third would be Flemeth vis a vis, if only in my pipe dreams.
