I know this has absolutely 0 chance to happen, but I like the impossible.
Duncan.
Coming back from the dead with heart-shattering revelations wrecking our perception of everything.
And the other one, steming from my hope that the next game will let us visit unexplored countries like Nevarra and Antiva: Zevran, as a master crow (though I would be quite confilcted about which language to play the game, because his english VO and the french one are both ridiculously awesome)
For me I would like the following, Oghern,Sigrun, Nate, Dog, Shale, Sera, Dorian, Fin, Aveline, Dagna, Scout harding soooo mostly most of the dwarves from the DA trilogy thus far lol
(I love Varric and would love to see him in DA4, just not as a companion)
Oh and Abelas of course

Ser Barris at the moment. He's cool and he's templar.
Though I'd love to see Bethany/Carver as companions as well depending on which one didn't die. Though problem is that both might be dead like Ser Barris, but then quite many of companions also might have died
i like compagnion that are related to the story . like casandra and solas they have a meaning to be there . not like sara . i don"t say i don't like her . butshe have no reason to be a compagnion in dragon age inquisition .
so i would like ti have dorianas compagnion in dragon age 4 . cause we are going to tivinter and he is a tivinter magister and he will be related to the story
Don't Hurt Me, but I really still want the HOF and Warden (or King) Alistair in another DA not necessarily the next one but one thats about the Wardens primarily and the Cure of the Calling in particular.
Scout Harding for new/old squadmate! I would definitely make a dwarven character if she was a romance option for males. Who else will the Inquisition send to track down Solas and any new allies they might need?
Otherwise I would be interested in Tallis from Mark of the Assassin DLC in DA2 - yay Felicia Day! Given Bioware's ability to get a legitimately questionable allied force (Cerberus in ME2) and turn them into another horde of cliched villains (Cerberus in ME3) I would bet good money that Tallis will be Tal-Vashoth and the Qunari utterly unsympathetic within 15 minutes of starting the next game (sorry Stenashock).
Harding would be nice, definitely. She's one of the few new characters from Inquisition I'd like to see return, and having more dwarves would be great. Totally agree with you about the Flanderization issue too, that's something Bioware really needs to work on. No point in having us get attached to characters and groups if they're just gonna turn into cackling supervillains in the next installment.
Velanna.
She's a Dalish elf and a Grey Warden. She could potentially tie in to both the Weisshaupt and Solas story line.
Velanna. She had a tough time of it and deserves a shot at redemption.
Good idea, both of you. Velanna (hell, most of the Awakening Wardens) are a bit of untapped potential. They were great already in the short amount of time we got to know them, but just imagine what the writers could do with a bit more space to explore them more thoroughly. If nothing else, Velanna gets more character development in the 8-10 hours we get to know her in Awakening than Vivienne and Sera get in any 100 hours of Inquisition, so there's that in her favour.

Not a bad notion. I'd certainly like to see the Warden's quest to stop the Calling explored to greater detail, I don't think Trespasser mentions it at all.
Personally, I'd love to see Merrill return as a companion. I've mentioned this before, but a lot of the revelations about elven culture and history in Inquisition felt tailor-made for her to respond to, and I'd love to see how she's grown and addressed this knowledge. Also, it would be nice to have an elven companion who actually stands for her fellow elves again, and if Solas is going to be the Big Bad for DA4, then it would be nice to have Merrill as sort of a Token Enemy Minority, a la Worf from TNG. Plus, if she's still a blood mage, that would be even better, bring back that sorely needed moral ambiguity. Plus, she's just a morally good character with an awesome accent, and people like that are never surplus to requirements.
Cullen. But only if the Inquisitor gets to be the protag again (yep. My Inquizzy certainly does not like to share especially after a certain ceremony and all that XD)
I'd like to say 'Lelliana' but my HoF is giving angry (murderous) looks from the side, so it's a no.
So it's a toss between Ser Barris, Abelas and Carver Hawk (preferably Templar. Especially after all those GW shiz in DAI, I much prefer him be a Templar)
For DA4 I'd say fenris, since we will be dealing with tevinter and it would be interesting to see it from a former slaves perspective firsthand as opposed to him talking about it in Kirkwall. If not him than calpernia would be my next choice since she wants to make tevinter great again while Dorian wants to root out corruption, would make for interesting perspectives.
