Just checked, your formula is right and I am an idiot.
But now I know how OP AW's barrier is. ![]()

You needed a formula to find out that AW is op ?
cute ^^
So max barrier is base off the person who cast the barrier. What about the people who received the barrier? I have seen the barrier I casted on someone dropped in 2 arrows, while another guy who looks like human porcupine suffered no damage to the same barrier. I thought I read somewhere that barrier does not have damage mitigation? Is barrier a % of HP? Is it just one guy has a ton more CON and more HP?
It´s just an assumption but I guess the guy who lost the barrier fast was lower promoted (lower defenses) and the other guy had higher stats and defenses.
That´s why a total noob still dies on higher difficulties even if you barrier them ![]()

That's what I thought originally, but then I read here on Guard that said "unilke Barrier, Guard has damage mitigation"...so that means Barrier does not count your own damage mitigation. I assume damage mitigation includes defense?
If a player has both guard AND barrier, what takes the first hit?
As I am just starting to play Keeper a lot, I suppose I will notice this fairly quickly, but just curious if anyone else knew.
From my experience playing silent sister with a Saarabot supporting, I *think* that the barrier takes the first hits, but thought I would ask.

We could test it if no one knows.
Just put a tiny guard on with full barrier and run into the middle of the fray.
hack you could actually test it yourself.. if you got that Y's staff with guard per hit
I think I have that one.. never used it though.

Sadly... I do not.

I can only tell from my experience , when I give a full barrier to someone with 200/200/200 he/she is just fine for a while. If I give full barrier to someone with low stats like below 100 each I can see the barrier vanishing in a few seconds ... don´t know how it works exactly I am not good at wavebending
And barrier first, then guard , then health. Sadly Isabela loses her Elusive Stacks, even if she has Guard and/or Barrier.

Elusive takes hit first, then barrier, then guard, then health. Poison cloud ignores barrier but I don't know about guard.

Can I poison the Venatori Commander or AE to death while they kept full barrier?
Speaking of poison.. what do people do for their poison challenge.. that's the only one I have left on that category....

Players can die from poison even with active barrier or guard, not sure about enemies, never paid attention, never use poison ![]()
Since Poison attacks, which are rare anyway, do not crit they are not useful, except for routine maybe ![]()

Alch poison weapon / poison cloud.
Not sure if someone covered this, but I figured I'd mention it. The damage done to a barrier takes into account the players defense.
Promotions OP. Barrier ignores armor, which can actually be more harm than good for the lesser promoted at times.
That´s what I said on an earlier post, well promoted players are fine if I give them barrier, newbies still die, no matter how strong my barriers are ![]()
Alch poison weapon / poison cloud.
OMG, it is awful. First I thought, I could do this challenge on threatening PUG with Luka. First match, I got like 3 poison kills. Turns out poison weapon will only count if you poke it once and let the poison kill the guy. That's impossible to do in PUG. So okay, switch to routine private game invis mode and try again. OMG these foes won't die... poison damage is pathetic. I even upgraded poison cloud and spam it with fire flask and after 100 kills or so I quit. ![]()
Then I thought... hey what if I play Lego and use the Stinking Cheater and just let them hit me and watch TV. After 1 episode of Dare Devil Season 2 and I am standing the same room surrounding by foes. I think I killed like 20. I am done with poison! ![]()
See if I'm understanding this correctly, so I'm making the best use of my characters and know better what to equip....
1)Barrier gives a set amount of 'barrier health' that depletes over X amount of time, which the time of depletion should be the same for all players regardless of stats. I believe someone said without barrier ring it would be a full 10 second depletion if not taking any damage. With Barrier ring equipped, that same full barrier would last 13 seconds. When struck by any attack, whether melee, ranged, or magical, the amount of damage the barrier absorbs is based upon players' defenses and gets put through the same algorithm as if you didn't have a barrier at all.
2)Arcane Warrior benefits from strength of spirits, and the higher you can stack your damage via willpower and base damage, the higher amount of 'barrier health' you will have. So would an Attack Power Ring give a marginal increase to barrier as well? Never tried that since I run Heart of Pride, Storm Pact, chain lightning ring, and usually another ability ring without any HoK, but just curious. Now on defenses for Arcane Warrior or any other barrier buffed player, any strike from an enemy would take into consideration your defenses for that particular type of attack(ranged, melee, magic).
3)Lets talk Saarebas. Barrier ring states a 30% duration increase for barrier ability. However, Saarebas uses Saar-Taar's Shield, which applies a barrier, but does not carry the 'barrier' ability name, therefore no improvement from the ring? Is this the same for Arcane Warrior's fade shield barrier and virtuoso's barrier? As someone commented earlier, running pact belt on the Saarebas may be silly, but why not chime in each attack with Asara's Leap opening stance, lightning ring for speed, then barrier spam? With winter pact on it usually adds around 2k per hit and allows you to still be mobile, though it can be a little risky if taking a lot of aggro, really only an occasional issue on NM. And once you unlock the two abilities for flow and finishing stance immunity to effects, Asara's Leap first will also take you out of any stun instantly creating a 3 cycle immunity to movement effects. I've played this style many times over, and feel most comfortable and useful with the Botbitch right smack dab in the middle of the mayhem, leaping out of the combat zone when need be. Was also looking to see which Rings and Amulets you guys run on your Saarebas, only if you are playing support.
As far as guard goes, seems more simple. 1.5 times health with no added buffs, takes same numerical damage against hits regardless of melee, ranged, magic. ya?
What I want to know is why some damage ignores/bypasses both guard and barrier and saps health. That's just not cool.

get ur will power over 100 and then try luka with poision cloud again on routine. i was using bloody bargain and the silencer at the time, and was doing 180-250 damage per poison hit. killing enemies within 3 hits of poison. get the passive that makes enemies create a new cloud when they die, and you can kill them pretty fast. ive done 1500/2500 of the poison kills this way so far. i dont use poison weapons as i was 1 hitting or coming very close to 1 hitting with my basic attack, so i just stuck to the cloud.

Not sure if you just typed wrong or whatever but guard, without any passives, like Bulwark, is 25% of maximum health (e.g. Max. Health 1000 = Max. Guard 250).
I am still not sure how the passive abilities (which give +50% each) are added, meaning: is it giving +50% for the guard value (improving it from 250 to 375) or giving another 50% (improving it from 250 to 750 max guard)?
Anyway taking one, or even both, guard passives abilities is really noticeable. ![]()

SS/Templar with both passives actually feels like 125%, so I assumed the latter example. Just tested it in SP because it was bugging me.
My Qunari Reaver has 826 health. With full guard, the guard attribute reads 206. So yeah, 25% base.
My Dwarf Champion has 1137 health and Bulwark + Untouchable Defense for a combined +50% guard. With full guard, the attribute reads 830. So, 75%.
Side note: 830 is actually 73% of 1137, so the bonus guard from those passives is technically 24%. So in MP, you're looking at 73-75% of max health with one passive, and 121-125% with both.
What I want to know is why some damage ignores/bypasses both guard and barrier and saps health. That's just not cool.
I never notice that there are damages bypassing guard or barrier. I see people get one shot with full barrier or guard on NM by the RT fizzle head, but it took away their barrier and guard together with the HP I think.
2 BH's can simultaneously strip barrier and one shot also. Most of the time fade away whimpering like a dog with 25/30% health
RT fizzle head
