After watching the Trespasser trailer, I had hoped to engage in an intense political discussion with the main heads of Thedosian politics. I hoped my Inquisitor would have to defend her actions in the Winter Palace, her decision regarding the fate of the templars/mages, several decisions made in the War Table and many others.

But all the player got was a short scene - three, actually - after meeting the ambassadors, hearing one complain from Teagan and then back it was to the old, boring and predictable routine of fighting, looting and closing rifts.

Our Inquisitor only gets ONE dialog wheel, where all answers have essentially the same meaning. Only the tone changes.

Honestly? As a player, I was disappointed.

One of the best moments in Origins was the Landsmeet. The first time I argued with Loghain, I failed miserably. Not just that made me want to try harder, but I was actually impressed with his rethoric skills. There he was, a mere videogame character, outwitting me by far. I just HAD to prove I could do better. And that was when the game felt REAL to me. Not just then, of course, but it was one of THE MOST important moments of the game.

The political conflict in Origins was delightful to me as a player because it was CHALLENGING. And it was all but set aside in Trespasser, when the trailer promised there would be a special focus on politics.

Can there be a future DLC, expansion or whatever where there'll be an emphasis on politics? Not like the sort we had to face at the Winter Palace, but something as challeging as the Landsmeet?

I find both your thread title and Loghain's flimsy excuses for his actions to be unsatisfactory.

May want to proof read your posts mate... That way people take your argument seriously. Especially your headings. I believe it's "unsatisfactory".

The Landsmeet was okay, but I prefer the Wicked Eyes and Wicked Eyes (Winter Palace) quest.

I just prefer the orlesian version of political intrigue, I guess.

Unsatisfactory. The legacy of a Germanic language that cannot figure out what prefix to use.

I think the OP knows about the spelling guys.

I agree that they could have made more of the politics, though I wouldn't consider the landsmeet challenging. Get Anora's support and make use of the contents of Howe's dungeon and its pretty hard to lose.

I wonder what Teagan complains about if, for some reason, you don't take the keep in Crestwood? You don't have to go there.

Impossibly. Because English is a Germanic language, with heavy borrowing from French and Latin, the negative prefixes we use tend to be random and can be confusing.

As much as I do despise politics, The Game and Orlesians, I agree with you, Modern, that Trespasser could have been more about talks, schemes and plots.
But, alas, as long as DA continuing this whole aRPG course, my Baelish-wannabe-ambitions limited to CK 2, Civ and Age of Decadence...

I actually sort of agree. The Council needed a more longer scene and more wheels to be considered engaging. But instead we suddenly get a qunari dropped in and you have to put the meeting on hold. Geez, couldn't the dead body wait a bit before interrupting? How rude.

But not really on the same level as what the OP was going for. I want to have a fauxgument too, sort of, but not really one where I can easily lose.

Landsmeet was very solid complex and interesting quest, its hard to find any political quest that can compete with it.

That beeing said I totaly agree with you, it flet like the councinl almost didnt happen, it was more like oh lets just put in a dailog or two in there so its not like put an area full of mobs for 15 euro up again xD

But dont worry fanboys will find some strong agruments agianst it anyways, like pointing out mistakes in your typing...

Probably he complains about you abandoning Fereldan villagers to be eaten by zombies. You heartless bastard.

I'm grateful they kept it to what it is. I didn't want to have some boring political debate to appease the people we already saved multiple times. The game focused on where it needed to, action, lore, closure.

I agree that I wanted more politics from the Exalted Council, but realistic politics honestly aren't Bioware's strong points. I don't think Mass Effect handled them well. I don't even think the Landsmeet was as successful as it could have been. Why do we have to fight Loghain, regardless of if we win over the nobles or not? Shouldn't we be exempt from a fight like in WEWH?

I'm sure much of this is due to the nature of video games, where RPGs now have to end every quest or major event with a fight, even if there could be other options available. I guess I'm happy that the Exalted Council didn't have a mandatory fight involved...

Who cares if its easy, it has alot of different outcomes depnding on how you apporach it.

And to ppl who say you dont need political quests in game where you run a political faction. Why dont you just go play Mu online or Orcs must die.

Agreed. Trespasser was amazing but this was its (and the series's) biggest shortcoming. I want to see more Origins-esque political scenarios like the Landsmeet in future titles. Wicked Eyes, Wicked Hearts didn't quite cut it for me either.

About the prefix, since this kind of reaction is pretty common in many Forums, not just the BSN:

1) English is not my first language.

2) In my language, the correct spelling of the word is with the letter I, not U. Unsatisfactory thus translates as Insatisfatório in Portuguese.

3) Dragon Age fans come from all corners of the world, but strive to do their best when interacting with American, Canadian, British players, as well as with anyone from other anglophone countries.

Kindly do everyone a favor and bear that in mind before implying other people are illiterate, alright? You wouldn't like to visit France or Japan, for example and be laughed at while trying to communicate in their native language because of your ridiculously forced accent. Or because you have to babble and gesticulate with your hands like a raving lunatic just to ask where the toilet is.

Thank you.
