I've just been imagining how Dragon Age 4 will begin and how I'd personally like the story to unfold... You can agree, disagree, ignore it or whatever you like but perhaps what we say or dream up here may just be a part of Dragon Age 4! Who knows..?

To start your inquisitor will be in charge of finding Solas during DA4's prologue... Inevitably finding Solas and witnessing him drop the veil in which the inquisitor either kills Solas then and there meaning the Evanuris are unleashed without Solas even having a chance to stop them... Or your Inquisitor will talk Solas into trying to reverse what has been done, Solas will fail as he has lost much of his power dropping the veil despite so much magic re-entering the world. Your inquisitor will watch as the Evanuris emerge from their prison and turn Solas to dust. If you liked, loved or hated Solas either way he will have to pay the ultimate price for his actions.

We then cut scene and jump to the new protagonist... Where we see them going about their day much like the character introductions from DA:O..
Perhaps you are a human malificarum/ rebel blood mage, one of Solas' elven agents, a human grey warden, a Ben-hassrath?? Spy... Perhaps even Keiran!! (My son from DA:O... I want to see more of him for sure but I understand many playthroughs do not have a world state where Keiran exists :(... Sucks for you guys! Haha.

We then see the veil drop from our new protagonists perspective, the event causing some ancient power inside you to unlock giving you the ability to split the worlds apart once more or perhaps you are a descendant of the Evanuris and their presence in your world makes you more powerful. I'm not sure how just yet but it's important for me that the next DA hero has some sort of unique power much as the Inquisitor did from wielding the anchor NOT someone like Hawke who just had his heroism to make him legend (there's nothing wrong with that but superpowers are better haha).

I can't fully grasp the exact extent of the veil dropping as no where would be safe, will there be demons everywhere mass slaughtering and possessing people? Will the modern elves become more powerful and attempt to reclaim Tevinter even in Solas' absence?

Your new hero's rise to power will be another odd beginning too... Will the inquisition reform with you as it's newest recruit (post veil drop) and will progress be scaled by your position in the Inquisition... The ultimate title being its new leader?

Perhaps others on the forums don't want the veil to drop at all? I've started to ask more questions than I am giving ideas of how I want the story for DA4 to unravel as I rant on haha. Feel free to answer them or add your own two cents on the matter!

My two cents: I don't think the veil will be destroyed even though the game could begin at Solas attempting it but failing for a reason or another (the Inquisitor or maybe even Flemeth/Mythal stopping him... or him still being too weak to undo his own magic). Or max the veil being disrupted or weakened somehow so demons and spirit are able to pass freely at places where the veil is weak or something, though that would basically be the beginning of Inquisition all over again and I hope they don't go that route.

I picture the next game starting a bit slower... I doubt that we'll get a huge explosion that sets off the story like in DAI, for some reason. Maybe you play as a team of agents of the inquisitor (hopefully lead by Scout Harding and two new companions) who is in search for someone important (who will turn out to be the new protagonist) to aid the Inquisitor (& co) on their hunt to find and stop Solas and just as she/they find them something big happens and the new protagonist is dragged in unwillingly or cause they see no choice but to help.

Maybe the character class choice could be woven into the game by there being four people the Inquisition is considering (Human, Dwarf, Elf and Qunari) and you decide the race by seeking one of them. Sorry for the rambling..

Alternatively, the game could begin with Felemythal introducing the new protagonist... At the time we don't really know where she stands (do we ever, really ?) and maybe while her end-game is uncertain she finds Solas plan to be too drastic and she grants the new protag the power to stop him.

I don't know. It's really hard to speculate at this point, though it is fun. There's just so many routes they could take with the story. Hate to think how long we're going to have to wait for it.

Haha yeah it's going to take years for DA4... I know that much.. And it sure doesn't hurt to speculate on how the events of Solas' awakening will effect the next game. I feel as though this is the first game to truly give us a good idea of what COULD happen as opposed to the others.

I just want something really epic to come out of the next game and I feel being forced to chase down Solas the ENTIRE game can't be it. I do want another major villain in the next game but I'd hope that villain emerges from the veil being dropped. This is the first I've heard of these evanuris.. I just hope they play a big role in DA!

My wishes also... They could also go the easy way and have Solas start another Blight to keep the people of Thedas (and possibly the remains of the  Inquisition) occupied while he seeks for a way to bring down the veil or power to do so.

I suspect we are going to have to wait for the Evanuris at least 'till the last DLC of the next instalment though, but hopefully we'll learn a lot more about them in the next vanilla game. More answers than new questions is my biggest wish for DA4... and that Harding returns  :P

These are cool theories, I'd love to see a story begin with Solas attempting to get rid of the veil and the Inquisitor trying to stop him. At the same time, it would be  weird for that thread to come to an end so quickly at the start when it's such a massive cliffhanger in DAI. It still feels like the inquisitor will play a big role in the next game and if they just have a minor role instead, it'll be weird when there is so much momentum built up behind them and their relationship to Solas. I don't know if a new protagonist is really needed...but it could also be a way to introduce new combat mechanics etc.

I hate cliffhangers and this is the mother of all cliffhangers. I want to know what happens next and I want to know now!!!

These sound cool, but they'd have to be careful how they went about it. It wouldn't be good to repeat the anti-climax of the mage/templar war just to move the story on.

Feel like I should mark some spoilers on this topic, even though we are on the spoiler forums, haha... Anyhow.

I don't doubt in the slightest that the Inquisitor plays a huge role in the next instalment, though I think the momentum they build up for them kind of stopped with the ending of Trespasser at least when it comes to them being the protagonist or even a companion... I think the Inquisitor will most likely be an advisor for the new hero seeing as they pretty much said that they need new people at the end of Trespasser.

Judging by the past I think there's also a chance we might just get the Inquisitor as a faceless someone sending notes or orders and advice through a wartable like device ala Warden.

Honestly, I'm kind of dreading DA 4.

There's too many entities with too much power running around.

Solas, Mythal, Titans, Corypusses friends, the looming Qunari invasion. I have this sinking feeling that the next hero is going to be tossed a massive deus ex to deal with these things, making the actual character even more irrelevant than in DA;I.

Just had another brainwave... What if the next protagonist is one of the Evanuris imprisoned by Solas? And you've just escaped the fade after a thousand or so years of being locked away... Power progression and levelling would be amazing,., plus you could be more of an anti-hero than any other dragon age allowed! You could be driven by revenge and pretty much have everyone around you cowering and perhaps even revolting against you towards the end of the game.. Probably just having a brain fart though haha. Damn that would be so friggin amazing.

I think it'd be cool to have it opening with a split origins story, either as a Qunari or as a human Vint where you are in the middle of the war and your initial preferences as warrior, rogue or mage have more of an influence than your race (being a mage in Tevinter and a Saarebas in the Qun for example).
After a few opening quests you have the option of following the status quo (retaining the Qun or maintaining the Magisterium) or rebelling against them. After a while you get noticed by the Inquisition and get asked to gain intel on Fen'Harel agents and so the story deviates to the war only being a small part in the greater scheme of things.

Somewhere along the way you almost stumble upon the ol' Dread Egg himself and you get stopped from engaging him with the intervention of Morrigan and we get to know if Flemythal did indeed send through some portion of herself to her daughter. You get to choose who wins the war but then the sky cracks open and you have to scramble to find a way to save as many people as possible with the help of Quizzy Rascal. Perhaps you're even given the option to choose to side between the Inquisition or Fen'Harel, too.

The main thing that's bugging me is Sandal's prophecy: "One day the magic will come back, all of it. Everyone will be just like they were. The shadows will part and the skies will open wide. When he rises, everyone will see." It's so definite. Not only does it sound like Solas will succeed but "everyone will be just like they were". So it won't be all doom and gloom and mass genocide but rather people will revert to their "natural" forms? Do we know how prophecies work in Thedas, as in do they always come to fruition or can they be thwarted? Either way I'm looking forward to finding out.

I'd like to play as an agent of Mythal, putting an end to all this nonsense and playing a part in the reckoning she speaks of, whatever it may be.

If it plays like that, I can almost guarantee that you will have some sort of memory loss first, and then they'll reveal that you're a god at the last hour of the game.

I want it to be set at least another decade down the road (more if possible). There is just way too much happening in the Age of Dragons....

I want a whole new protag who has nothing or little to do with the Inquisitor. I don't mind the occasional talk or mention, but unless my protag is an important person, I don't see the reason to know the Inquisitor.

I do agree with needing some type of extra power that make you (the protag) unique, just not sure what it would be....

I do like how the story is unique for most of us and I hope it carries on that same way for future games! Tevinter vs Qun could be a big deal in the next game and then have the Solas aspect come after... idk.

I do want more hair choices.... or at least make them mildly realistic.... TW3 looks real, so granted it is a different game engine, the mechanic is able to be implemented somehow, I'm sure. They do well with the fluidity of water, so why can't hair be done with an updated version.

I absolutely do not want to be race-locked, so being of the Evanuris or an agent of them, seems kinda meh....

Yes to it being set later down the track from DA:I and yes to the hair haha. I believe the devs know that's number one on the list of things to improve in regards to visual character customization. Or at least I should hope so.

As for being an Evanuris. Think of this scenario. You start the game doing your usual race/class selection and characters intro like DA:O.. You are in battle perhaps with tevinters as a qunari.. Or fighting some Templars as a rogue blood Mage.. You fall in battle just as the veil comes down thanks to Solas and one of the Evanuris visits you in spectral form, taking your body and going from there? I'd be happy if the evanuris weren't EXCLUSIVELY elves though. I always play as a human and although this new proganist being an evanuris is nothing but a daydream I would prefer if at least a few of them were humans haha.

I'm just really stuck in the wonderings of it since I thought it up. Perhaps playing as the one who killed Mythal.. And memories of those events coming through momentarily through the game. And also the wondering as to whether Solas was ever really the "good guy" when he created the veil or perhaps his true reasonings were much more deluded than what he makes out at the end of Trespasser. We've only been left with his truth on the veil and the Evanuris. Once again.. Playing as one would be epic but I'd happily play as Keiran too haha.

My inquisitor is in a pretty farm with Cullen and his dog, the prologue says he lives happy for ever after, why he is going to be in the battle again just for the fans?

The HOF storming something down in Weissaupt (or the Orlasian Warden Commander of Ferelden). Now, that is something I'd pay to see. Is my HOF walking into Weissaupt. That should the prolong, is to see the HOF in the Anders.

Solas will break the world with the power of truth. Imagine if at the beginning of the game:

-every Dalish elf found out that their markings were slave markings

-every elf knew that their Creators were only powerful elves

-every dwarf will find out they have been peddling the blood of their precious Stone for centuries.

-if my theory about Andraste being the first OGB(same year, many parallel with the Creators and Mythal, yadayada), and their entire belief system is based on a huge lie and a lot of Chantry false propaganda, Most of Thedas will go berserk. Well, the Andrastian part of it at least.

-add the Imperium, lots of slavery and a huge ass invasion by the Qun and we are all set.

-well, an elven army under the banner of the Dread Wolf will not be amiss either

Solas just has to eat his popcorn and enjoy the show as everything implodes around him.

And after an entire game of fixing everything and preparing for a showdown with Solas and a Mythal possessed Morrigan(or a Inq under her control if he/she used the Well), we find out that there is another big bad out there, and Solas and Mythal are just trying to save the world in their own way. Solas by releasing a demon army from the Fade, and Mythal by cleansing all the Creators of the taint and putting them in dragon bodies(after all, her two daughters had two very specific tasks: Morrigan to be the baby maker, and Yavana to resurrect some huge ass dragons).

So the start of DA5(and probably the last) will be an alliance of all the races, Solas, Mythal, some resurrected Creators, many companions from all the games in some cameos, some cameos for the Warden, Hawke, Inq(if they survived the other games), all facing insurmountable odds against the army of the Void, Titans, fluffy pink bunnies, or Maker forbid, a nug army. After all, we do see their king in Trespasser. Thad dude seemed rather shifty, final villain for sure.
