OMG!!! I didn't even think about those beasts! I totally wish they were in DAI as like a hidden boss!

I didn't forget, well I couldn't, I'm always playing Origins (Witch Hunt included) so I've seen a couple of Varterrals since DAI launch...
Their model would have been awesome in DAI
But whatever, I miss desire demons the most

I kind of assumed it was the Breach driving them off, but i don't think they're even mentioned. A shame, really. They're interesting.

Varterrals are mentioned in a shield description (March of the Everlasting), so it doesn't seem like they completely forgot their existence.

Probably an oversight, but it could easily be justified by revealing later that it was Solas who kept them at bay.

Yeah, I have missed them. Probably deliberate but sure would be nice with varterral instead of some common spider or something once in  a while.

Also a Varterral would have been a disappointment. They were tough - nothing in this game was tough.

I'm going to go with "couldn't make them work in Frostbyte in time", I remember an interview where the devs said they had many issues animating the Dragons in Frostbyte, I can see the Varterral being a pain too.

I am actually not surprised to discover so many of us forgot about them completely, due to Bioware not giving them any relevant or memorable roles since their introduction. I would not be surprised to discover it was Frostbyte that caused their absence, however Bioware seemed to get the Dragons to work really nicely. It would have been fascinating to see at least a few, either in Trespasser or maybe even the Temple of Mythal.

I miss their sexy nude bodies of course so Imshael is not a good replacement. I'd like to go through the same procedures the seekers go, but instead of a spirit of faith to restore my connection/cure my tranquility I'd like a desire demon to become da ******. I will try it in real life, if everything works as intended I will post a tutorial here in the forums.

I'll just handwave it as Solas tricking the varterrals by making the party recognized as individuals under the protection of the evanuris, granting us free passage.
